Turret Bug ???

So,

I went and and eared enough Explore Points to buy my first Admirial Mk X Purple Turret...only to find out that my Star Cruiser can not equip them ???

It says only a Heavy Cruiser can equip....

1. Is this a bug ?

I'm sorry, but this is the best end game gear you can get at this point, and they want me to ditch my star cruiser and down grade to a heavy cruise to equip this weapon ?

I have been able to equip every other 360 Turret up till now...

Why is there only one type of weapon (Anti Proton)...and no purple Phaser Turrets for example ?

I like the game...but this just killed what little reason I had to log in every day and do the daily.

/Sigh guess it's time to make an alt :confused:

    No it,s not. If you hover your mouse over an item a box tells you what typre of ship you can fit it to.

    Not every weapon type is available through the vendors. For example, I searched for the longest time for a Mk II Quantum but vendors only sold Mk II Photons. I know they exist because I see them on the exchange which leads me to believe they are mainly drops.

    Likely the Purple Phaser Arrays are only available as drops.

    But to your question, I typically hover over the item before I buy it to find out if I can use it. But you're right, that does sound odd. I would file a bug report.

    I guess i just don't understand why my star cruiser can equip every other 360 turret in the game....except for this one, that just happens to be the best one from end content.


    I also don't understand why a low class heavy cruiser can equip it, but mine can't....how does that make any sense at all ?

    Pretty sure its a known bug. However, I wouldn't worry too much about it. The purple items aren't exactly good right now.

    The only purple weapons I haven't regretted purchasing is tricobalt torpedo and tricobalt mine (and I'm still on the fence about the mine)

    The rest? Eh. The fact I'm at -12 dps with the weapons compared to a fully specced lower tier weapon, lack of proc, and the fact I haven't had a antiproton console drop... meh.

    makes me glad i've been buying cannons then.

    hope they fix it soon mind, turrets are very useful in the right circumstances..

    To answer the question why turrets as an endgame strategy. A very good reason is feedback pulse. Any beem ship going against a ship with feedback pulse will lose, all other things being equal. First off, even if you see the feedback pulse go on, you can't stop firing before you get hit with at least 2-3 pulses. Those pulses can easily be 4-6k shots to your hull each time. Second, turrets actually provide you sustained dps and if you are fighing escorts with a crusier, you are not going to out turn him even with your T5 so if you count lost firing time due to the arcs you are at least even with beam and probably better. Turrets also use 1/3 less power so your effective damage will be higher with turrets than beams with the same amount of EPS consoles.



    Regarding the tricobalt torp someone mentioned above, I have has great success with mine, you are probably using it like a normal torpedo and you can't land anything if you use it that way. Tricobalt torps are point blank weapons (inside of 1km launch distance). If you use it that way you will have better luck. Also if you use it with jam sensors and they can't shoot it down. Process is as follows, Line your target up and run straight at them, take their shields down, jam them, and fire your torp as you go by. KaBOOM...next target.

    Not to mention, the more damage at 360 degrees you can keep up, also keeps the shields down or lower until you can come around full bare on your target....

    Anti-proton turrets are bugged atm. On Tribble I can equip them on my ships.

    As regards to DPS then remember that PvP dual-beams have 60% crit severity :). So they can do more higher crits than other vendor weapons.

    Interesting, On tribble they can be equiped on cruisers? Thats good news because I sent a bug report in and I got a response from a GM that said the AP turrets were working as designed so obviously he didn't know what he is talking about.

    60% crit sev is huge, the only problem with the cruisers is its too slow to gain the benefit of double beams.

    Where you purchase them from ?

    I havent seen any purple items from order merits vendors.

    As happy as I was to see this fixed - I was also kicking myself for selling my one on live after I coudn't get it to equip like my other turrets and thought I did something wrong *grrrr*. Now another two days of Daily just to replace that one for when the fix arrives... :)

    Anti-P's are Omega bought weapons Mace - from Scotty's ship in the Omega Group (all items are Very Rare Purples - but Bound on Purchase, you can't Sell them on Exchange...)

    Edit: like Kob says below - forgot about the two machines in the hallway at K7 :)

    You can also get them from the machines at k7 for pvp marks (including into the frey)

    Definately a bug, especially as it says they can be used by Heavy Crusiers and yet Heavy Cruisers can't use Mk X gear.
