What is Cryptic Studios thinking? Why in the hell are all the indoor environment and bridges so off scale with your character, there huge. I feel Im in the land of the giants.

I charge a yearly fee to access my bridge. It's like $50, but you get a good price on everything on the bridge. Some of the items might be a little high up, so if you need help, just ask Timmy. He's the skinny guy standing over there in the red ensign shirt. He'd be happy to get a forklift and haul down whatever item you're trying to reach. Oh, and please make sure you get your receipt punched before you beam back to your own ship.
Some beings (like the Undine) in the STo universe are huge. They designed the interiors generally so that each being, even the large ones, can move in them without their heads vanishing in the ceiling...
DS9 AND the starbase look stupid too. Memory Alpha looks epic that size, but it's supposed to be a library built into a planet, of course it's meant to be epic. But the transporter room. Why are all the transporter bays 3 times the height of the crew? I feel like i need to max out all my characters heights (including BOFFS) just to make things look reasonable.
b) So there's room for a full five players (or one player and BOs) on the same map without falling over each other.
Whether you accept that explanation is up to you. But that's the official word from the devs on the subject; the question's been asked before in interviews, podcast chats and stuff.
The turbolift door is 2 stories tall. I haven't seen anyone PC or NPC that is 10 meters tall.
They can reduce the interiors a decent ammount and still have enough room for even the tallest of characters.
Doors and most corridors are too wide and tall for the most part, though the brdige I'm fine with for most of them (minus the doors). Some pretty good examples are well the tutorial door (it is actually at least 2 stories tall, it was still least twice as tall as the tallest alien we've made), the console in Ghost Ship was nearly 3 head's length taller than me, and the corridor for Quarks bar is wide enough to drive a couple cars side by side up the ramps and tall enough to fit a double decker bus.
Yeah, I gotta agree that the scaling is annoying. I don't think it's that big of a deal though, but that's just me. But since we're talking about it, howabout the monitors? I finally got around to walking on my Defiant's bridge (which, in my opinion, is the right size for a Cruiser bridge almost) and noticed that although the captain's chair is in the center of the room the effing monitor seems to be about 20 degrees off. It's cockangled. If I was fighting from the bridge, I'd have to stand to the right of the forward station just to actually see it right. Again, not exactly a big deal (especially since we can't fight from the bridge yet) but something I hope they address if they ever DO redesign these things.
Oh yeah, what about the PvP ship? I swear sometimes I should see Ripley running around on that thing, or a giant mummy sitting in a cannon turret chair. But if I see a facehugger run across the floor I am outa there.
While I agree, realistically its not needed. But in certian circumstances (remembers the mission with Capatin T'Vala) where you need alot of room otherwise you and your enemies will be breathing down each others throats. (Obviously Klingons are into this kindof stuff)
Quarks is MASSIVE because its supposed to be a social area. Somewheres where fleets have events or just groups of people get together for RPing.. and god is there some HARDCORE Rpers on here....scary sometimes. Try running up a small stairs with about 50 people trying to go either up or down.
Every MMO Ive played, has either downscaled size or upped it for the purpose of keeping things realitive to the needs of the Online Community. You seriously think it takes 5 Seconds to Cross the Maelstrom in WoW?? You seriously think it takes you 10 minutes to get from anywheres on the map to Sol?? It takes days, weeks if it were realistic. You want to complain about something, complain about them breaking canon. Or the overdone bloodshed in a game based on morality plays about Humans overcoming their problems. But being upset that a door is 2 meters tall is not important right now. Probably never will be.
These big areas are big because they came from Champions. They are just reusing Champions area layouts. The hallways are big because characters can jump really high and fly around in Champions. Im really tired of looking at the same old areas filled with boxes and generic computer too. Go checkout Champions if ya don't believe me.

for all the current flaws in-game, I honestly don't even notice a problem here. I can see the point being made here, but only now that it is mentioned and even now I really could care less. Looks fine to me. Fix the real issues.

Standard fare for MMO's in my experience when it comes to interior scaling. It allows for ease of multiple toons and camera angles. Otherwise we would all be squished in the hallways.

Other people have pointed out reasons for it. Even more important, I have never heard one reason against it except for someone's feeling of what it should be. And, an individual players sense of scale is so not important when put up against even the slightest of reasons for it. Why? Because it's a game.
People just want something to ***** about. Crying is what gets them thru their day. Obviously theyve become tired of complaining about the bugs and need some new material.
As far as the large transporter rooms and doors, I would venture as far to say that they are big because they transport more than just people and it would be silly to have a transporter that only fits people and not cargo.
*shrug*
Hell, back in the NX Enterprise days that's what it was primarily used for was transporting cargo, the people didn't want to get "digitized" and were standoffish about the relatively new technology.
Psst , they're planning ahead for when we come across aliens that are 3 times our size and need that extra space Remember, don't be speciest .. not every species of life looks like us
The explainations of "So the Camera won't clip" and "so you can fit plenty of people in the environments" are the primary explainations, but if you look a little deeper, theres more to it.
The actual interiors of most of the sets for Star Trek have actually always kinda been teeny tiny, for both budgetary, and filming/lighting reasons. They don't look blatantly like it in the show, but when you put them up against our interiors, it makes the difference even more obvious.

This is a pretty pathetic and cop-out explanation. Look at Star Wars Galaxies, another and OLDER MMORPG. They have, in many instances, realistic scaling. While I would agree with some sort of improvisation in game due to technical reasons and so forth, what is currently in game is exceedingly obnoxious and should be scaled down. Nothing is more immersion breaking walking to the back of my bridge or other environment and having a 20ft door in front of me. Scaling in this game needs to be seriously looked at and revised.

Other games have dealt with smaller interiors so this isn't really a plausible reason. Bridges in particular are WAY too big. In my one bridge I need to jump to be able to get to my Captain's chair. Things should at least look as they should in Star Trek. They should be reduced at least 25%. Not to mention the console graphics are extremely poorly done. Most doors also need to be reduced and redone. Firstly we don't even go through most doors so it makes no sense for them to be immense in size.. and secondly the labels on the doors just don't even make sense.

Room for the camera.
SWG didn't have oversize ship interiors, or oversize building interiors. Must be a huge friggin camera.
Although I still think they are WAY too big. Had 20 Fleeties on the bridge the other night and felt like the place was still entirely too large.
a) So the camera doesn't TRIBBLE up, and

This is my universe and you puny effing humans are infringing on my personal space.

i'm fine with them tho once i'm in the game and playing they make little difference to me..

Ding ding ding! Finally a winner.
