"Saturday's Child" bugged?

Hey everyone - I currently am a Lt. Cmdr. level 9 with a Vesper class. I have mark 4 weapons and consoles and I'm trying to complete the "Saturday's Child" mission. However, there are some things that are bothering me. First, the meteor at the end sometimes can be damaged, and sometimes not. Second, the IKS Kang is invincible. I hit him with everything I've got and I've never gotten him below 90% hull. What's the deal? For now I'm just going to grind until I get a new ship and promoted before I try this mission again. Has anyone else had the same experience with a tier 2 cruiser?

On a slightly related note, for some reason my mark 4 shields really suck compared to the mark 3 shield I had before. Is that a bug?

I did this mission last night in my tier 2 cruiser. Didn't have any problems. Are your energy settings high enough on weapons? Sometimes I forget to switch from engines if I wanted to get somewhere quick.

You have to kill the fleet of klingons, then Kang, then the red devil (or whatever it was called - sky devil)

I have a level IV plasma, level IV quantem, 2x level IV phaser banks.

In regards to the sheilds, depends on the max shield rating, the regen and any reductions it does. I tend to use converient which has about a 70 regen I think. Works well enough for me.

Thanks for the response. Yeah, I always make sure I'm at about half-impulse (helps the turning rate), and I have those level 4 weapons and a level 4 shield. I don't know what the problem is. I guess I'll try again - maybe it was something that just got bugged one time.

    Thanks again!

I dragged The Kang away from the meteor only to find you can't damage the meteor past a certain point, so yes, you must take The Kang down before the meteor. You can sometimes hit The Kang while it's focused on the meteor, and don't be afraid to pull away and recuperate, or switch weapon systems/ BOs to see what works better against it.

The Kang sure is tough. Probably the toughest PvE fight in the game. It isn't impossible though. Jam Sensors and various Hull/Shield restore powers are needed though.

I wish more fights were as challenging.

I'm a Cmdr Level 4 and the Kang was formidable, but not too much so. Relentless beams to the shields and HY torps. Only had to hit Emergency Power to Shields once (but I have rare Mark IV shields too.) Focus on the Kang first then the meteor.

Stupid House of Duras... ;) :P:rolleyes:

I am having the same problem. I am Lt. Commander 9 and can't destroy the Kang. Whenever I get it down to 65%, it cloaks, and when it returns, it's back to 100%. Maybe I'm just not destroying it fast enough. I'm thinking I may need to get to Commander before I can complete this mission?

See, that's what I'm thinking. My Vesper-class, as sturdy and fine a ship as she is, just has a horrible time trying to take down the Kang. I think I'm just gonna wait until I rank up and get my next class of ship. It really made me mad, too, that I had to cancel the mission, because it's the very last thing you do in it. So now, I just do the Hiromi Cluster exploration mission over and over, trying to rack up skill points to rank up. Does anyone have a better way of getting skill points?

There was another mission I had difficulty with and wasn't able to finish until I went to Lt. Commander. Also, if I remember correctly, one of the rewards was an item marked for Commander. Since I'm in the same boat, let me know if you find something that racks up the points.

I fly a disco ball cruiser( 5 of 6 weapons arrays), so I had no problem with it. Took it down really fast actually. Get charged particle burst if it keeps cloaking on you

Wow, what is a disco ball cruiser? What tier is that? Yeah, the cruisers are pretty awesome - I'm just having to debate whether or not I should keep going the cruiser route if the STO devs intend on fixing the turning rate in the future.....

This guy is tough. Come back once you get your new ship, its just not worth agonizing over. And if you think he's tough, wait till you meet O'Brien....
