Hey all.

Was given a buddy key of a work friend last night, downloaded the game via Cryptic's downloader, installed it, patched it went to sign in and the client crashed giving me an error about a d3dx9_37.dll not been compatable with windows or possibly corrupt. Iv tried manually downloading the file afresh from Mircosoft but i still got the same error. I downloaded the game files again but this time from the torrent listed on the download section but again im getting the same error.

All the files are set to admin and all the the correct privilages, i did a force verify which came back fine too.

Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit
AMD X2 64 6000+
8800gt 512mb
4gb OCZ Ram

Iv done the usually scan of google but i was unable to fine an answer, i just seemed to run into dead ends.

I like the sound of STO but this slight technical issue i seem to be experiancing is putting me off buying the game. Iv only got 4 days left of the trial, it be nice to see whats to offer other than error codes :o

Thanks in advance..

Delete the DLL and exes.hogg. See if it fixes itself.

Fantastic, that worked like a charm. But now im faced with another error this time its a Fatal Error and something to do with the textures.hogg. So ill delete them and let the launcher reinstall them.

Im in game but its now time for work so looks like ill have to wait untill tonight to get stuck in.

    Thanks for the help everyone.

But wait whats that i see pop up, yey another error message this time its a problem with the Animation.Hoggs. Iv never had so much trouble getting into a game than i have with STO. I really do hope it worth all the effort and i really hope i can get on before my trial runs out :(

Are you downloading the client through a 3rd party site? try a full redownload using http://files.startrekonline.com/installer/star_trek_online_setup.exe
and see if it clears up. If it doesn't, then theres a problem with your system

Its working now was playing it for a few hours last night with no problems.

That link you posted was how i downloaded it originally, and the 3rd party download was a torrent that is listed in the download section on this website. The download data must just simply be corrupt, but deleting the corrupt files and letting the client repatch them back into the game seems to fix the problem. Was abit of a pain and took 3 days off the trial time but im happy now im in..

Thanks for all the help everyone. :)

Same problems with me. My STO game always crashes in ground missions when there is a lot of action going on graphic- and sound wise. It stutters a little bit, then freezes for a second and then I find myself on the desktop. The crash report says something about a D3dx9.DLL crash, and other crashes, too.

but the crash itself looks always the same...

I have 23 other games on my HDD (Champions Online, WAR, WOW, DawnOf WarII, Bioshock2, OFP-DR, RIsen , L4D1+2, FarCry2, Dirt 2 and so on...) and all of them run absolutely rockstable.

It makes me sad, cause I m one of the few players who loves STO the way it is and I really planned to play it for a long time, but with this regular crashes its kind of impossible.
