What is the Arc Client?

Does anything, like the hogg files, need backed up??

Is there any part of the installation on the client PC, that needs backed up on a regular basis??

Or, is everything server side??

Back in OB, .hogg files occasionally corrupted for some people, though I haven't had any problems since. You could back up the .hogg files if you want in case they ever get corrupted, though however this doesn't have anything to do with saving your character or anything.

So unless you abhor the thought of having to redownload stuff should something happen, I wouldn't bother backing it up.

That was my concern, is any character, ship, stats, anything like that kept client side, that wouldn't want to lose. Sounds like there isn't.

Nah, you can reformat your whole computer and your character ships and stats'll still be safe.

yep. All account info is server side, due to this game being an MMO.

Your graphics and audio settings are stored in the prefs file. And some stuff like active language and the advanced command line options are stored in registry. Nothing you can't remake easily, but it is worth mentioning.

What about the HUD arrangement and controls?

That kind of stuff can be a PITA to set up again just as you want it.

Keybinds can be exported with /bind_save_file "filename.txt" and loaded with /bind_load_file. You have to do it twice, once for space and once for ground.

HUD layout is stored server side.

Keybinds too (unless you are explicitly doing weird things like with local keybind files).

    Awesome!
That was one of the things that bugged me in EVE, bookmarks and all customisation was stored client side.

Cheers for the quick reply. :)

It can actually work against you though, if you play on two different sized screens. On our list to think about, but several notches down.

Like how the server has a strong tendency to reset your HUD layout to default. And your power tray layout, for that matter.

Might be nice if there was a sicky, maybe under the Starfleet Academy section, with the list of all files that have anything that not want to get lost, such as favorites, screen layouts, whatever else is on the client.

Some people might be that paranoid about losing settings and such....
