But remember that only one person can use the account at a time.
Yar. To clarify further, you can install the game on any number of machines (in theory)... but only one computer may use the same account at a time. If two people have access to an account (which is an EULA violation for most games - I'm not sure specifically on STO, but I'd wager on it), and tried to access it from different machines at the same time, only the person logged in first would get access.
Individual players should, in all circumstances, have their own accounts. Cryptic isn't responsible for anything that happens with account sharing (and neither are most other MMO companies).
can star trek online be installed on more than one computer and if so how do i get it to accept the product key when it is already activated
You only need to register the product key to initially create/tag your account.
You can then install the client on 2, 5, 1000000000000, or as many machines as you like and login with your account name/password from any of them - but only one machine at once, of course.
