Downloader sending email?

I started downloading the game as I received a buddy code from a friend. While the downloader utility is active my Email scanner starts spitting up messages stating that it's scanning emails being sent to various servers. Is this being done by the Download utility? To double check I downloaded several large files from other sources but I don't see the same antivirus scanner popups as I do when the Star Trek Download utility is running.

I've scanned my system with two separate antivirus scans and neither of them found anything.

I hope some one with technical knowledge of the download utility can answer this for me. I posted on AVG's forums and they informed me that if a downloader / accelerator program uses the same ports as the scanner or incorrect ports that it may cause some issues with the scanner.

My question is does the downloader perform any actions that would connect it to the following sites?

    levk-d93287d9.pool.mediaWays.net:110
    p5B2833DC.dip.t-dialin.net:110

    It seems fishy to me.

Perhaps if your ISP uses Telefonica Deutschland.

I just tested it and the downloader doesn't use the email port 110.

How long did you leave the downloader running for and how do you test to see what programs are using which ports?

If I can figure out which program is accessing port 110 on my system I can figure this out a lot quicker.

Port 110 is for POP3, which is retrieval only, no sending. Might be helpful. The downloader certainly has no implementation of any mail-related anything, its a minimal wrapper around libtorrent.

Thank you for your replies. I'll try that TCPView when I get home.

TCP View helped. The torrent system was opening a lot of connections. I'm not sure how but the addresses that I'd listed above were being accessed but not at the port listed in the popup. Either way. My fears were put to rest. Thank you everyone for your help.
