Major crashing after todays patch

SystemSystem Member, NoReporting Posts: 178,019 Arc User
Everytime i try and play now the gameafter todays patch it locks up and crashes me to desktop, even had it lock up the entire pc and casue a repeating sound glitch :(

I use Nvidia card and had no problem with the game untill today.

So not only has todays patch some how removed my anti matter capicitor and not allowing me to reclain it, it is throwing a right ol' wobbler in not letting me to lg in for more then 2 mins before my graphics go all to pot and i get dropped with some rather severe looking graphical defects.

:(

What type of hardware are you using?

You can try creating a new user account in windows and see if the game runs from there on a clean slate.
I know it might not help if they fubar'ed the patch

I have allso a crash problem. When i select my old character the game crashes immediately when i hit the play button and start loading it. But if i play with my Klingon char which i created after todays patch the game works fine.. well allmost. At least i can play as a Klingon.. I sincerely hope my old char is not a lost cause.. If it is.. well i can allways play mass effect

have you done a verify of your files on your sto? perhaps if you go to options before engage button is hit and do a force verify it could repair what file is causing the crash? I haven't booted up and tried with new patch but that's my suggestion for now, otherwise if it doesn't work submit a ticket via your sto login on the website.

Wow .. same here .. its horrible now. I have been pretty much crash free since OB now I virtually cant play at all. Very odd.

Cant even get into game sometimes but when I do its full lock up after a few minutes.

the devs need more info than 'my game crashes after todays patch'

    what is your video card
    what operating system
how much memory do you have
are you using any special keyboards or mice like g15 etc
what is your desktop resolution set at .
    processor speed/type
    any error messages at all?

go to your control panel, open up administrator tools, open up event viewer, look in there for anything with a ! error and see if you can find any error messages for STO

That would be true if you believe they look at this forum and pass those details on to the "tech department" for detailed analysis.

    I don't

I believe at best they might take note of a trend if hundreds of ppl were crashing/posting after a patch they might look at what they changed.

The only reason I posted was in case of the afore mentioned trend .. and cus I felt like a /cry
