Hello Cryptic,
I am a loyal and loving player of STO and have been following STO since it's predevelopment and Perpetual days and have been playing STO since Closed Beta (lifetime member).
Here are a few things that I would like to see in the future that would make STO a much more in depth experience for me:
1. A PvP system muchlike Pirates of the Burning Sea (want to be able to actually fight and control regions of space through PvP.
The big thing for me is a sense of danger and accomplishment in games. Currently I am at Rear Admiral level 4 but do not really feel that I have accomplished anything. I know that no matter how many times I die or my ship is destroyed, the Federation will still be there and be safe. I want the Klingons to have some teeth and be able to take regions of space from the Feds and vice versa. Then have a map reset.
I also want to travel through areas of Klingon or any enemy space and FEEL like I'm in danger. Being able to fly past a Klingon player in Klingon space and know nothing can happen isn't fun for me.
2. Aa more in depth Economy. I am not a crafter, but it would have been nice to have an economy where players could provide lasting buffs for credits or craft other things like weapons, ships, etc. and sell them for energy credits. What you make could be profession specific.
3. More graphical options for exploration generated content. I have done a ton of exploration missions and the ground content graphics seem to be getting repeated quite heavily. A few tree, rock, sky, building, etc. options. So while planets are different, it is just a rearrangement of another planet. Also when in a station or building in exploration, it is just a reuse of Memory Alpha, a Klingon ship or some sort of other station...I have only ever seen those three types in ground exploration and beaming into a place that looks identical to Memory Alpha no matter which exploration sector I am in is no fun...I no longer feel like I'm "exploring" Again, there needs to be way more options or the Genesis system needs to do a better job of randomizing things if in fact there is more environment options.
4. More customization options for starships. Some of the non-canon designs of starships that we can swap parts with are not attractive in the least. I would have preferred that Cryptic use canon ships in each tier and let us swap out between them so for example, in tier 4 say you could swap parts between a Galaxy an Ambassador or a Nebula...I'm just having a hard time understanding how we start with a canon Trek design and the others are more "extreme".
5. More uniform options for Admirals. I appreciate being able to use the rank, but on the various shows and movies, Admirals always had a more formal and decorative uniform. This would be nice!
5. Raise the level cap and expand the amount of levels between ranks. Promotion happens way too quickly I find and we're already at a point where there are a million Rear Admirals flying around in Star Cruisers.
6. More canon Trek locations to visit and hang out at...especially some of the really unique ones from TOS. Also, placing vendors at these locations would be great. I would also like to see more NPC's on DS9 and in Quark's...for the trade center of Bajor, etc. DS9 is a pretty quiet place, even when the max number of players is onboard per instance.
Just a wish list of what would heighten the experience of this game for me and nothing more.
