Is anyone else having issues with the Cryptic client crashing? When i log in and go to press the ENGAGE button it sends me directly to an error ticket screen. Benn happening for about 2 hours now. Any advice to fixing this would be appreciated.
Run a dxdiag, save all information, and paste the system information and display devices sections to this thread.
You can also try Safe mode in the launcher options, see if that gets you into the game as a test.
Check your STO directory for the crash in the log files (CRASH.log for example), copy and paste ones that match the date and time (time appears to be in GMT in the log).
Coderanger, There is not an error ticket #. Where I think there should be one it says UNKNOWN. I keep getting directed to an OOPS! Cryptic crash screen. Says to write down what i was doing while they attempt to gather info. I do that and submit it. Just no info to post. I have made a seperate ticket , just waiting on a response.
ANd Milehigh, I dont even know where to begin to try and find the info your asking for. Not the most computer savvy person in the world. Could you point me in the right direction?

How do I find my system specs?
Run dxdiag from Start->Run or from a command prompt. After it has finished running click on Save All Information at the bottom of the screen next to Exit.
Save the text file to your desktop and then open it up, copy the system and display devices sections and paste to the forum.

Sorry, that is about all I can recommend since I haven't had to troubleshoot this on my own systems. If I come across an idea to try I'll post again.
Keep in mind the video card you have is pretty low end for today's standards. If you still have the original power supply, it looks to be only a 300 watt unit in the Gateway model from the dxdiag.
yea- meaning to get a new card but got other things that need to happen first before i can spend money there. The power supply is the original- is that something i need to upgrade too or am i ok for awhile with it? I have had no problems whatsoever.
ANd thx for the help man- hopefully cryptic will send a response soon.

If you end up putting a newer video card in your system you will need to get a better power supply too. Normally the card will state what the minimum watt you need, like 500w or 600w for example. A cheap power supply is just that, so depending on your budget you can get a "decent" one under $100.
I picked up the Antec Earthwatts 650 for under $80 on sale. It isn't modular (power cables don't disconnect from unit so more clutter) but it received good reviews. It replaced a crappy Thermaflake 430w that I bought cheap in 2007.
I bought the game today and installed it. The first time, the launcher patched and i was able to launch the game. However, it would not connect with the account server and just timed out. When i tried to restart my comp, the launcher crashes every time. Very frustrating..... But it seems to indicate that something went wrong AFTER it had patched. Ive tried to run it in safe mode too but to no avail.
My dxdiag is as follows, hope you guys can help me:

Nope, bought the game for 49.99 Euro, and havent been able to even try it yet. It crashes every time.
I really hope they fix this soon, since ive been looking forward to this game for some time. I know every new mmorg is bound to have some glitches and bugs, but still
Okay, well if I ever hear anything from Cryptic on how to fix it i'll post or whenever i can actually get in i'll post. Really just hoping to get a response soon.
Yeah, i think it would alliviate alot of the tension and trolling, if Cryptic atleast made a post, that they are aware of the problem, and trying to fix it.
Fast info from dev teams are essential to a good mmorg in my opinion, but i guess theyre kinda swamped with these problems atm hehe
I just had a tripple heartattack with a backflip, since ive just bought a brandnew comp, and was afraid it was some kind of incompatibility with the comp and the game. But atleast it doesnt seem that way

Before you login to the game go to the top of the launcher and click Options. (Above the buddy key advert)
This will open up a small box and select the Safe mode option.
Click OK and then try to get into the game. Does it still crash?
