beating the dead uniform horse...

I hate to mention this again because I'm sure it's been said but is there any way for those of us who bought the regular version of the game to get the TOS, WOK and TNG uniforms without buying another copy of the game, is there something in the works for the cryptic store?

WOK uniform was given as an extra-code that anyone could use, not so much a deluxe edition bonus.

Probably, but not for some time. I can imagine the screams of rage if they were to give the CE items on the C-store in less than twelve months.

I think they'll be out in less then 12 months. 6 is probably going to be much closer.

I bought a pre-order and I think all of the items should be for sale on the C-Store for a fair amount. An 'All Uniforms' pack for $10 seems fair to me. NX designation $2.50. Special armors/equips $2.50 each. Its not insulting it the least, imo.

Yes it is, if you google

    "Wrath of Khan" uniform code

    You'll find it very quickly.

As for selling pre-order incentives, I doubt they'll do this in a very short time period. For one thing, the uproar would be tremendous. All of the entitlement people would complain about their exclusive items not being exclusive any more, without regard to the temporary quality any "exclusive" item can have.

As an owner of the Borg BO, if they decided to sell it in the C-Store, it would not bother me at all.

That all makes pretty good sense, I didn't think about it from the other side... I guess because I really wouldn't have been upset if someone could buy my exclusive content.

As for the WOK, It seems it should have been available to anyone that pre-ordered (which I did) the game so should it have poped up with my special shield item or should I try to redeem my code again?

I would be upset. I bought the CE entirely for the TNG uniform. Because that is the way to get it. I already had the DDE on pre-order. Didn't need the CE at all. But that's how you get the uniform, so I did it.

I would not object to selling the Season One uniforms on the store. If they have the option for skants as well, I'll even buy it. But the CE items should stay exclusive to the CE.

By your own logic, DDE items such as 'Unique' items or 'playable joined Trill' should be kept exclusive. The thing is, there is a difference between something that was a 'preorder' bonus and something bought as part of a deluxe or collecters edition.

There is some ambiguity with regard to the DDE from D2D (I got that)! I have, on my desktop as I write, the print out of the original D2D sales page for STO. ALL of the 'extra' items from D2D or clearly marked as preorder bonuses as apposed to being deluxe edition items as some should be! Some items are clearly marked exclusive or unique though and as such that uniqueness or exclusivity will be negated if those items are sold in the CStore.

I also have the lifetime / 12 month subscription page printed and that clearly states the extra character slots and playable borg are 'Exclusive Specials'. Again, the exclusivity is negated if these items are sold in CStore.

The negation of exclusives or unique items is a major issue for some players and as I have stated elsewhere, it is an issue of trust in Cryptic.

Many players say or infer that, aside from the obvious common sense financial issue regarding lifetime or 12 month subs, they bought thier subs or many copies of the game (to get special items) out of loyalty to Cryptic. It will feel like an insult to some if Cryptic negate that loyalty through selling those items.

I consider the DDE to be another form of CE, and as such do not believe that those items should be sold seperately, either.

And it has nothing to do with loyalty to Cryptic. That's just how MMOs have always worked, and so I spent extra money to get those things. That extra investment was entirely hinged on one in-game item. I did so because no MMO I have ever seen sells their CE items seperately later. If Cryptic did so now, that would make the extra money I spent completely wasted, and I (and many others, I am sure) would never buy another CE from them again. What's the point, if they're going to sell the extra pieces off? It's a bad deal for us, it's a bad deal for them. Sure, they get a little extra money from this sale, but they lose out on selling CEs for any game they produce afterwards.

Point well made and agreed with. However, though you and I reason this out quite well, others will not and it is evident in the forums that such people are not only insulted at the very idea of DDE / CE 'specials' going into the CStore - they do see it as an issue of trust. :(

GL in game and hopefully, you enjoy it as much as me. (Regardless of the faults!) :)

Incentives such as uniforms, playable borg and joined trill were given to gamers that were willing to take a gamble on a brand new game. The incentive was to effectively pay Cryptic up front for something you weren't sure would work and in turn, they gave you something 'unique'.

The game is still very much in that period where not everyone is convinced it will last twelve months, let alone a comparable 'lifetime' membership.

Bottom line is, if you want the incentivised reward, you should have taken the risk of pre-payment and pre-commitment.

The hint is in the wording, 'exclusive pre-order bonus' or 'exclusive lifetime bonus' - give it to everyone and it's not exclusive.

You'll be wanting the 'Founder' tag in other mmo's next.

The irony is, if more people had bought the lifetime or the pre-order, we'd probably have more content by now and I for one would swap a metal whisk in my toon's head for a raid.

I'm going to agree with the Consoler and 7 of 9.

Folks that preordered took the risk of the supporting the game before it was even released. They chose to stand behind Cryptic with their wallets and paid up front. :)

The preorder bonuses were advertised months before game release so there should be no surprises in what was being offered.

Folks that waited until the game was released are going to miss out on the preorder items. That doesn't make them bad people, it just means that they decided to wait. The tiny cost of waiting was the loss of uniforms, borg Boff, and other preorder goodies.

I would be very annoyed if Cryptic turned around and suddenly handed out the same rewards to new subscribers that I earned by taking a leap of faith before STO went live.

I paid for my cookie with sprinkles, its my cookie. :)
