my character would have to have innaturally large shoulder armor and my batleth would be glowing and I would have to go into the same cave and kill the same dragon over and over and over again once a week for 5 years.
Its would proberly look terrible, as wow is way to cartoony and looks pants !
they may have gave us open space tho, which may have made it feel like space is vast as they do a good job with thier sorta contious minmal loading.
But i dont know if id like STO as much if it was just wow reskinned, as wow is boring and grindy, STO is fast and more aimed at casual player. Its more fun then a wowgrindathon.
There would be perhaps only a few areas that were instanced......sector space would be a thriving giant mass of space where there it would take ages to 'Trek' across ho ho ho.
The planets may not have been as MASSIVE as the WOW 'planet' but I am sure they would be FAR larger than the squares that they currently are. Oh and you would see other people on the planets not just you and your away team/team mates.
Episodes!!! Far more than the 2 Episodes and 1 patrol per level that seem to be the average in STO.
in WoW STO, my Vulcan boffs would all have ears extending three feet out past the backs of their heads, and there would be Klingons roaming through the first sector ganking noobs and selling their gear.
Also, there would be at least one planet of Murlocs.
That would be targ heads. And only every 3rd targ would have a head. I would /boggle at all the headless targ.
In WoW's defense the ridiculousness of not finding bear paws on a bear, or eyes on a spider, started before WoW.
Not being able to find "undamaged" eyes, I can understand, to a degree.
But not being able to find ANY eyes on a creature that has the most eyes of all is downright ridiculous.
Even almost three weeks after launch, there's still be hours-long login queues, and you'd get DC'ed when you finally got in. When you sat through said queue again, you'd be missing all of your gear.

And when in a Crystaline Entity fight.....someone would shout "Leeroy!" and ram the CE ...and kill it!
Although I dont like WoW at all - it would have been a far greater game.
Agreed in part.....I moderately like WOW BUT Blizzard have NOT ONCE let me down as a customer and I know that they work damn hard to bring out a game that is as polished as it can be within reason. Take Diablo 3 for instance (building upon the awesome game that is D2 ofc) it has been in the works for absolutely AGES and they are taking their time and I am completely confident that it will completely blow my socks off.
As a company I have more faith in Blizzards games than CCP, SOE, Flagship (thank god they went under) and erm oh yeah so far Cryptic. There are prob others but my noggin is achey and I need more coffee.
If STO was WoW:
*Klignons would dominate PVP, and Feddies would be up in arms constantly that the Kli's have an unfair geographical advantage.
*Drops off defeated ships would be fought over to the point of flame wars on the forums and massive bank raids.
*Everyone would have a separate character just to hold all their useless junk at ESD, and they would all be vulcan females in skimpy outfits.
*You would have to spend the first 60 hours of game time in ground combat until they gave you a ship to command, and then you'd be pulled off your ship anytime you wanted to fight.
*All enemies would give you some energy credits for killing them, and other completely useless junk to shove in your replicators, not just batteries.
*Crafting would be insanely involved with getting all the right little pieces and spending hours making self sealing stembolts to throw on the exchange just to make one EPS relay.
If WoW was STO
*You;d have just three classes: Warrior, Mage, and Druid (Eng, Tac, Sci)
*You'd get a few mats here and there and never know when you skill up crafting.
*There would be no dungeons, just big open areas teaming with one, and only one, type of horde race at a time.
**and you would not see them until you were in casting range, when they suddenly unstealth and hit you with PoM-PBs all at once.
*You'd see a load screen every time you entered town, every time you took a flight path, and every time you turned in a quest.
*You would STILL have people asking "Where's Mankrik's wife?"
*No professions, and you can only craft items in a shop way out in the boonies of the barrens.
*You would get to have civilian cloths/uniforms, but it all gets covered by the same armor as everyone else (Which you cannot customize...wait a minute, that's there already :P)

I think D3 will own everything we have ever seen, ( starts adding more to the hipe)
btw did i miss somthing or are the factions in sto like in CoH were you never run into the other faction unless its pvp? I see no klingons in any zones unless they are the zone defend mission one's. And if this is so that really blows and why we need a open pvp server were we can fight all over the place
I have a lot of respect for Blizzard for having the fortitude to delay release of a game until it's done. I never played WOW, but I played most of their other games, and I was always happy.
That said, STO-Blizzard would have been far more grindy, and gear oriented. The classes would be more pigeon-holed in their fighter/healer/DPS play style. Class progression would be static, but that wouldn't help in any way to fix the obscene PvP imbalances. There would be a boring money/time sink crafting system that never payed off. And the end game would consist of going on 5-hours raids with the hope of getting that one-in-a-thousand rare phaser drop.
for what I hear, WOW was a complete mess at launch. STO has some bugs and server issues, but nothing game breaking. I do not see people complaining about gear or characters disappearing. The worst set back is a quest that can't be completed because something is burried in the terraine. That's hardly a big deal with so many quests available. STO's main flaw is that it lacks content. But I am enjoying what there is enough to wait and see if Cryptic can deliver.

we would have to run back and forth to sol/ds9 everytime we finish a mission. but dont know if thats a bad thing as it would atlest force you to see other people. Also there would only be one instance of sol and it would be huge giving people a place to meet

If STO was given to Blizzard it wouldn't be released for another decade or two or if ever, since Blizzard is smart enough not to make competition for itself. that's why they never made a world of starcraft. why it's taking so long with D3 and scII, and why their releases are staggered apart by a year each
The graphics would be terrible, and would never even be slightly improved, even five years down the road, and after two expansions.
/Facepalm you think they would use the same engine ?...fail....no this would be a real MMO made by a real Game company we would get a bang for your buck and 1 more maybe slight important thing....IT would have been COMPLETED...........

erm prob more but that will do for now

You'd get the same quest in every area, but the item would change, as would what you'd have to kill to get said item.

There'd be a big green arrow above your character pointing at Sulu, and a big green dot on the minimap pointing him out.
People would still spam Zone chat asking "Where's Sulu?"
We would of had to wait at least another 12 months before release.
The characters would of looked cartoon like - remember the animated series of star trek? mix that with the Star trek song of tato heads.
Better ground mode would feel a lot better but look cartoony - more then it does.
Worse Star ship mode - would look badly!!!
overall - It would not feel star trekky
I came here aiming for StarShips which I must say only improvement i can think of is the detail isnt as good as I had hoped.

Dude your Avatar > All others
Also there wouldn't be such a thing as "lifetime subscription" that implies "we're gonna run with your money".
And in 1 vs 1 pvp you could be killed without being able to do anything against it. Oh wait.
And as such, it would be laggy as all getout.
