Would it be possible?

Hi guys, im enjoying myself in the game but reading all the posts about lack of end game content etc I was thinking and when I played SWG the devs used to do events now and then like sending in Dark Jedi Masters into populated areas that went on to kill everything there. Is it possible that maybe they could send a Cube or two towards earth so everyone has to stop it, I dont know how it would work but it would be fun, maybe get some drones on the starbase that need to be wasted as well would not take much to do it. Sorry if its been mentioned before but it would give everyone something to do high or low level.

Yep, and because of this, I see no reason for cool stuff like this to not happen again.

Yeah, it was. It's a good thing there wasn't a DP, though, otherwise it wouldn't have been fun AT ALL.

Perhaps not at an event like that but hmmmmm it's a moot point anyway as the devs have said they are working on a DP. To be honest though this game really does need some sort of DP as I find myself heading straight in to huge blobs of targets with little regard for the safety of my crew......not exactly trek.

Of course it must be noted that it is but my opinion and should be taken as such without the need to flame or troll (not finger pointing but have been getting tired of making posts with constructive criticism and being flamed or trolled just for having a differing opinion) ;)

I agree on something simple for a DP. I personally like what they did in Guild Wars, and it would be very easy to bring over to STO. In GW, if you died, you took a 15% hit to your max HP, SP and armor, and this stacked every time you died, to a max of 60% DP (for the uninitiated, you had 60% less max HP, SP and armor). You could clear this DP out by killing enemies (if they were close to your level, you usually took a percent off with each kill, or more if they were higher level than you; if you were OP compared to the enemy, you didn't lose any DP), by leveling up or returning to a town.

This could easily be brought over to STO by implementing the same percentage system, but the percentage affects your max Hull Points, Shield Points and Crew when in space, and your (and your BO's if/when they die) max HP and max Shields, and it would increase the recharge time on Kit powers. You'd then lose DP again by killing mobs, grading/ranking up or returning to a Starbase (not necessarily going into the Starbase, but being in the zone it's in in space).

I have no problem with this at all. Sounds pretty reasonable and keeps the respawn point valid with the DP you have mentioned :)

And it's not too inconvenient, while making it so you do actually have to plan stuff to be effective, because running raids at -60 DP sucked, and I don't think it would be any better here.

You could even have a canon reasoning behind it, too. As you stack DP, your ship will have battle damage because your max HP will be below the thresholds of the battle damage already in-game, signifying your "gimped" status.

Can't really knock the reasoning there at all. Let's hope the devs read this while they are contemplating how to implement the DP next month or whenever it is.

Should I make a thread about it?
