Is Cryptic toying with us? And cheating in their own game?

Today in crystal entity a dev was disabling all the fragments so we can beat it effortlessly, why are you bypassing content like this ? And all whill he was doing this he was like "all hands to space bar" or something like that, you think its funny how annoying it is we have to press space bar so much? I use a macro so i have an unfair advantage but i could care less go ahead and ban me cause i certainly wont be playing this game if i cant macro your bad game

I dont know but your company seems very loose and unprofessional about your game, it doesnt seem like this game is going to take itself seriously anytime soon, swkor couldnt come out any sooner id say

I would suggest reporting this to the devs with the GM name and any screenshots you have

It's a shame you feel that way. I think the Dev was just trying to have some fun with the fans in the zone at the time - not everything needs to be uber-serious, IMO. Still, I hope you find enjoyment in whichever games you play in life, be it STO or Star Wars next year.

Auto fire is being worked on, all your spacebars will be saved. A dev also stated macro'ing to autofire main weapons will not result in a ban. Actually he said exploiting a bug/lag to induce autofire won't be a bannable offence due to the autofire fix being on the way.

Maybe the dev noticed that the CE hadn't been killed for four hours and wanted to help out the poor buggers just wanting to finish their mission.

Glad to see that they would come out and play. I think it would be great if we could get some events going like team death matches with devs for stuff like it. Something to do while we wait for more content.

That would be fun. In LotRO they had an event where the devs played as the game's Big Bad and her minions, and would launch random raids on towns and stuff. People who fought them got special items. It was really fun!

I miss that sort of interaction. UO would have events where Devs and GM's would have spontaneous events. Sometimes it'd be a monster raid on a town or just a party.

I guess people will complain about anything anymore.

    Agreed...

One thing that I love about Cryptic is their deliciously 'unprofessional' (I mean that in the best possible sense) attitude to things as GM's.

They don't use the cheesy one liners and pre-generated messages and pre-generated responses they speak from what they know about the game and if they don't know they pass it along...feels like talking to a person instead of a robot which is worth serious points for me.

I shouted some obscenities in zone chat because
    1. I was drunk.
    2. I was trying to help a buddy do a patrol mission that I did a long time ago and couldn't join so I was frustrated.

GM whispered me saying keep the zone chat clean. So I explained why I was frustrated etc...
Ended up talking to the guy for like 15 minutes about possible changes to the game...

    It was very refreshing...

I think his name was LibraX or something with X

How do you know it was a dev? You do know scramble sensor freezes the shards, was it just somebody doing that?

*lol* Mine too, which is why I named my ship after him.

I also like the story about his ship destroying heat beam. :D

I think it's apalling that a GM would do this, what is this, some kind of private server for a MMORPG where GM's appear and help players defeat bosses and hand out items and money? utterly unproffessional.

and the comment about the spacebar, wow, I would have told him to stick his nacelles up his TRIBBLE if I was there.

although, if this didn't happen and it was just a player using scramble sensors, then ok. D:

EQ used to run events; the volunteer GMs would get scripts and play different roles; I remember one had a female troll looking for her children. Sadly, the players themselves successfully killed off the events by being asses. To many would purposely try to ruin the events just to make people mad, others would, like the OP, complain that how DARE they run events when there is SO MUCH ELSE they should be doing to 'fix' the game, etc. The worst thing about MMOs is, as always, the people.

ROFL - My sentiments exactly. Apparently, for some, it fires weapons. Mine it does absolutely nothing.

GM's and devs should stop with the crystalline entity nonsense. It's unprofessional, and they could be doing something constructive instead like attacking Sol with borg.

That says it all right there. I loved when they used to do that on EQ. But, I quit because everyone else ruined the game for me. Same with WoW.

Look, I'm by NO stretch of the imagination, a "fanboi",
but I have to agree with you 100%.

It does sound like the dev was.....playing. Having some fun. Joking WITH the comunity, and being friendly.

If I see this dev out there playing....I'll simply try to team up with them. Sounds like an entertaining and pleasant experience to me.

And, "All hands to space bar!!!" is pretty funny.

He was probably trying to help people with it, since its been something that has been tormenting players for a bit. Its also a way to relax/let off some steam, coding and working on bugs all day can get tiring.

As far as the 'all hands to space bar' comment, whats the normal comment in sci fi shows? 'all hands to battle stations' or something like that. Sounds like its making fun of the default fire all beams command(for those that dont know what space default is)...

I seriously rofl @ people who macro the space bar / weapons

The space bar bind is there to help you relieve a few keys of firing. While I disagree with it, its already a macro itself. You honestly need more macroing?

If you need to macro this game, then MMORPG's are not the games you need to be playing. Go back to a console game where you are only confined to 12 or 16 buttons at maximum, something more your easy pace.

The only problem is, WE can't use Prima Noctae to solve the problem.
