Great Going With No Spam

Alot of people would notice the number of gold spammers "decreasing". The reason behind the shrinking numbers has nothing to do with Cryptic, but rather US, the players. We simply click IGNORE, so it appears that their number are shrinking when, in reality, they are not.

If Cryptic was really concerned about gold spammers, would Cryptic offer, on the STO homepage no less, 5day freinds trial. Wouldnt this INCREASE the number of gold spammer accounts?

If Cryptic was so concerened, they would annouce this offer in game. This would make it far more difficult for gold spammers to get this information (gold spammers being bots), but still allow players to know of this offer.

It could also be that even the gold sellers are realizing where this game is headed, and are starting to not waste their time with it.

There will always be spammers no matter what. Every pay to play game offers a limited free trial in order to entice people into the game. That is simply good marketing sense. It would do no good to offer in the game as that would not attract anyone that does not know anyone in the game. IE: they don't get the coverage.

There are only three ways to get rid of spammers. 1: add in a report spam button to the game. (which we have) 2: everyone stopped using spammer services. (unlikely) 3: get rid of the MMO industry. (even more unlikely)

If you think Cryptic isnt trying to get rid of spammers consider this, there is not a single game in the MMO world that does not have spammers.

My post could also be very true. Gold selling is a very large industry. These people know what they're doing. They won't waste their time and money on a game they don't see as being worth it.

After rereading what you said I must apologize, I jumped the gun. I'm just so used to seeing so much negativity on these forms that I just assumed you are being negative without fully taking the time to understand what you were saying.

    I do apologize.

Less Spammers can actually be attributed to decisions Cryptic has made.

    1. Lack of a Global Chat leaves the spammers with few options to spam on.
    2. Heavily instanced zones make it hard for the spammers to get their message out.
    3. Lack of multiple highly populated social areas gives the spammers a few places to target and thats it leaving the rest of space quiet.
    4. Lack of a real economy in game means the energy credits are worthless and not worth buying.
    5. Multiple currency forms such as merit, badges etc take away from the value of the EC.

At some point the 'head' of RMT company C realizes it costs more real money to make fake money to sell for real money.

This one I can truly agree with!!!

But either way, the exhcange is one of the major down points of the game. Yes, I understand Supply and Demand. However, the problem is neither, more like, greedy people selling MK I Common phaser arrays for 500,000 EC. I guess we can also easily blame the person that pays 500,000EC for somthing that is only worth 530EC.

I love it when I see someone apologizing. It's something that rarely happens on the Internet.

using badges and merits as a primary form of currency is actually a great thing. EC really don't have value and they shouldn't have value.

Good sellers have made this reality, and like it or not, the only way to stop them is by having badge stores.

Although I can't agree with the direction STO is going as far as EC worth. In EVE or even like WoW, game currency has at least some value. You can buy at least some items or skills or train something with currency... STO is super shallow in this respect, but at least gold sellers probably aren't as rampant.
