Anyone else feel that the randomised rock and shrub placement looks quite bad?
For me, I think the primary reason is because it fundamentally offends my human sensitivity towards nature. Instinctively, I know that nature tends to arrange simple lifeforms (plant or otherwise) around larger lifeforms. Instinctively, I also know that nature tends to arrange lifeforms around other similar lifeforms.
The simplest reason for this natural arrangement is defense. The other reason is that lifeforms that evolve around each other tend to evolve from common ancestry... or tend to adapt their form and function around their neighbours.
So when I see a random "Earth-origin" tree standing in the middle of a bunch random florescent "aloe" looking flowers, I wonder why that tree isn't dead. I wonder why there are no other trees around.
I think Cryptic may want to consider implementing "islands" of lifeforms. By island, I mean groups of ground elements that are similar to on another, for example, formations of rocks with desert plants growing on and around it.
