To All power Levelers and how to do it. plus DEV tip

This is to all those people who sit in deep space encounters doing nothing not the ones that join in,

most if not all of us have entered a deep space encounter only to find one or two players seemingly AFK.
these guys for your information are all power leveling buy letting you do all the hardwork, once the 9/9 has been hit they move to another instance and and sit there, after three bouts they then report back and collect the 400pts for the mission( defend some sector) and then request the same mission again(rince and repeat).

I personally dont have a issue with power leveling but do have a issue with these leaches.
so my message is this.

if your gonna power level then join in the fight, you will find that the level will complete quicker thus meaning you can level up quicker. dont just sit there, join in.

if you realy want to annoy a power leveler just set your ship to follow them, after a while they will soon relise that no one is destroying stuff and that they either leave to another instance or reluctenly join in.

A note to the DEVS if they read this.
if a player is inactive or fails to engage the enemy for more than 2 mins in a deep space encounter.
then they should be kicked back into sector space
.

you can no longer instance jump in deep space encounters, which i find incredibly anoying and frustrating.

a 5 minute timer for anything is not needed 30 seconds yes maybe a minute at most but 5 minutes to wait around .

as for afk levelers its been said multiple times that due to the nature of the game you can go afk to the loo or have somthing to eat and be sucked into the instances totally beyond your control.

the other issue is with the powerlevelers is this DOING nothing in the patrol missions makes the encounter probbly twice as long most powerlevlers are on time limitations and therefore they want that mission over as fast as possible so they are less likely to sit there and do nothing.

as for powerleveling in this game i really really doubt ANYONE has paid for powerlevel service knowing that there is no end game content.

Its the way lazy people like to level their character. I've seen as many as 5 people sitting at the zone in for a Deep Space Encounter.

Didn't bother me, more loot since they put more ships in the instance for me.

you will be suprised how quick you level up, doing 3 defend sector missions will level you up a rank, and if you play the instance game it can be done in a pretty short time. if you spend more than 5 hours a day on STO, you can get to admiral sooner than you think.

they returned it back to normal, well at least in defense missions you can instance jump again.

    here we go again.

As a pure healer science, I will NOT dps, Heal, or do anything in an instance I will NEVER be eligible for loot in. I can't compete with the d0uchebag Escort captains that wait for a tank to engage, then just dps the hell out of something until it's dead and they get to scoop in the loot.

    Never will happen.

um yes you can. once the 9/9 ships have been destroyed you go to your system map and change instance and find a game that is in a mission already with say 5/9 ships destroyed.

thats how you power level, no need to wait for that 5 min timer to finish.

here we go again? i don't see anything the OP said related to what your talking about, what he's talking about are people who instance jump and join almost finished instances then just afk to watch tv or something.

I was certainly able to last night AFTER I assisted in defeating all the squadrons. Players doing nothing in environments stink.

Another MMO instituted the ability to kick someone after 30 seconds AFK. I think that would work well in this situation.

To the OP, thanks for clearing that up for me, I've seen it happen and I wondered what the hell the player was up to. Now it makes sense!

If I'm not participating in a DSE, I warp out, but if I'm in one, then I'm IN it, I love forming teams, seems not everyone does this as I always invite people and they aren't already teamed up and join me immediately. I figure we help each other that way.

you can just zoom to the top or bottom of the map and no one will ever see you, players or mobs. Ive seen quite a few ships afk there. I've done it when looking over my points spending or reading about a skill but not anything long term. I sit in space for ten seconds and get sucked into a deep space encounter and sigh and get out of the way to continue what I was reading.

You can also simply not respwn after dieing and still get credit.

If they're dumb enough to park somewhere easy to get to, just lead a pack of ships to them. That's what I do. Though, even that doesn't matter, since there is no penalty for dying.

well im hoping that those that are thinking of power leveling will read this and join in, ive just come from doing some power leveling and strangly enough after 6 rounds the same guys where all changing instances and joining in, this is probably the first time ive leveled this fast. almost at admiral level.

If actual instance participation recieved better rewards and at the same time mission rewards lowered, there would be a decline of instance idling for mission rewards. In addition, the lack of proper participation rewards (and balance mechanisms) is why I don't even bother with PVP anymore (don't be surprised when you see people sitting idle there too).

They still get mission credit for sitting there dead.
