I'm not so fond of manual weapon switching at all. I'd like to be able to put both weapons' abilities on my action bar at the same time. If I use an ability with the 2nd weapon, it should automatically switch instantly and use that weapon.
Switching weapons isn't fun, using abilities is.
Can we do something about it devs? It feels very clunky and you can't count on it to swap.
It works just fine for me. All you have to do is make sure that when you go to switch your weapons you wait for the basic shot to finish its cool down and wait about a ½ second after you use the secondary shot of the weapon to press Z. (default key to switch weapons). Simple.

Yes, it's works "fine" if you observe and work around the eccentricities of the system. Nobody is denying that. He's asked that the eccentricities be smoothed out, so that rigorous attention to timing is not necessary to perform a UI operation. There is no reason to deny or argue against this. It should be tuned to work better and more smoothly.
People are so eager to be contrary for its own sake that they dredge up the most ridiculous strawmen...

I was just pointing out that it is not that big a big problem. There are other things that I would rather that devs be working on than this little ole' thing. Of course, it could have been made this way on purpose in order to keep people from mashing Z in order to try and get an exploit that basically makes it to where you have an AK-47. I mean think about it, can anyone switch rifles so fast?
Perhaps before you attempt to be rude you should attempt to understand why someone says something. (I'm referring to your last line)

Yeah, that would likely fix it. Or at least make it something you can trust to happen.

I like this idea.
