It's worse than that, I'm missing Jim...

Any chance you are going to put Doctors in this game? I realise that might be a plan for possible expansions, but it might be nice to know if that's on the cards. It does seem a bit cack to have one of the main iconic character features of ST completely missing, after all, what ship is going to set off in a time of war without any medical staff? There is a nod to it in the tutorial of course, with, as far as I'm aware, Zach Quinto voicing the doctor hologram, but after that, we are riskily going where no man has gone before, since we have no medics.

As it stands, I'm apparently able to heal people with a standard tricorder (happens on a few missions), which is a long way from ST canon. Any info as to whether this will change?

    Science officers are Doctors.

I have one science officer that I've delegated as my CMO. Her ground abilities are all medical (Medical Tricorder, Vascular Regenerator, and 2 of the Hypospray ones), and I'm role-playing her as my doctor. I usually don't take her on away teams, so her device slots are all full of large hyposprays, as well.

I remember in beta, we asked for a way to give our officers official titles like CMO, Chief Engineer, First Officer, etc. I'm hoping that they do implement that in the near future. Until then, I'm just RPing it for myself.

Yup, I have a CMO and she's got heals and buffs on her. Also, she wields a sniper rifle MkIII (only LCMDR on my newest character).

Bones, Crusher, the EMH on voyager won't ever pick up a sniper rifle. Bashir, yeah, I can see it :D

Yup, I know it was in beta that people spoke about it, I was there too, and I know we can sort of imagine that a science officer is a doctor. But what I'd like to see is the role more clearly defined than it is at present, with perhaps a medical slot on the ships for an officer, one that could affect crew healing and stuff in a more specialised fashion.

You can of course do to some extent at the moment, but it's still not fully defined in the way that says 'Star Trek', as evidenced by the fact that your Fed science officer choice in the tutorial looks not like Bones, but like Spock, which is very telling of how you can and indeed are expected to use the BOs in that role.

In fact I think it would actually be pretty cool if you could take that as a career choice in addition to the three that are currently presented. Sure it would take a bit of sussing out in how to work that into the game, and for all I know that might be in the pipeline. I certainly hope so, I'm betting the RPers would love it if you could.
