I had a thought about how to introduce holodecks so they are not social like the bridge into the game whenever the devs get around to it. Looking for feedback, additional suggestions, etc. Use it s a way to test out different builds in the game. Want to see how differently your ship is using different power levels without risking it in combat? Go to the holodeck. Want to try different weapons/shields/equipment...? Against one big ship, two medium ships, a fleet of frigates? Against different species? Go to the holodeck. Want to see which BOff are best on away missions? Go to the holodeck.
This would be one good use, and they probably will do something like this, but I hope they also use them for more creative missions... period missions, holonovels, and definitely a Sherlock Holmes mystery or two.

I wouldn't count on any Sherlock Holmes.
Its a notoriously complicated and expensive licence.
I would love a holodeck feature to be able to be used as a replay feature as well. Maybe a way to show off missions you've completed to your friends without being logged onto the game servers or something?

Hi Sir,
You say you are the captain of your fate, the master of your soul, and that's where I come in ; you are only master of your soul if you feed it and keep Our Father happy, so I don't have to kick your soul into oblivion on Judgement Day !
I Am the First Shaman, the shaman who takes action.
I'd ike holodecks to be an outlet for players to be able to create their own content. Maybe even design our own environments, NPCs, and scripted events like having the NPCs talk and give you missions. I envision it like a sort of built in toolset (similar to the toolsets that come with games like Neverwinter Nights, Elder Scrolls) I know it's probably too complex but wouldn't it be cool?

But as soon as theres a DP you will find the action moves from real space into sim space so no, not a good idea!

Are you a crazy person?
Well, that's a bit ominous.
