Cloak Death Timer Needed

EVERY TIME without fail you join pvp and 1 2 sometimes large groups of klings cloak and NEVER fight they fly off map or something getting free points for NO action.

a timer needs to be put on such as after 5 mins of cloak and no action in pvp your ship explodes and other side gets credit for kill this would stop the afk or just plain cowardess we see in pvp.

its sad cause kling ships are way stronger then fed ships yet 80% of them hide instead of fighting and no timer on pvp causes feds to log out and try again for the few klings with honor who fight.

    Sometimes when I enter as Klingon all I see are 5-10 fed ships that are staying close and spam mines the entire battle, in most cases we are outnumberd like 1 to 3 and I'm waiting for reinforcements to make it a fair battle.

    Other than that, there are sissy's out there who do not fight at all and just fly around seemlessly watching others die when they could've helped bringing down a fed..

    I think a cloak timer would be nice, like, klingons can cloak for 1 minute and after that their cloak will have to recharge longer like 30 seconds, they can cloak earlier before the cooldown is done but then the cloak will last shorter etc., it would go against all of the rules of Star Trek reality but then again, this game already has been doing that..

    any change will be welcome i play on kling side to and have been in fights were i was outnumbered but instead of hiding for days i go try to kill or be killed to end the battle i dont have all night to waste for 23 or 18 points its like come on its a 5 point diff for a loss fight or dont que up

    A cloak timer definatley needs to be implemented, or a more reliable method of detecing cloaked ships.
    Other Star Trek games actually manged to have the cloak implemented pretty well.

    Starfleet Academy: Permanent cloak, but left a visual distortion that could be tracked, also blowing off a warp naccelle would cause plasma to leak that would be a dead giveaway for a cloaked ship.

    Klingon Academy: Permanent cloak, but unreliable, it would constantly give brief sensor blips that could be locked on to and fired upon with gross innacuracy.

    Bridge Commander: Cloak ran off the ship battery, and would slowly drain it until there was no juice left and would then decloak.

    Starfleet Command 3: Permanent cloak, but could be detected by launching probes as well as giving oneself away at times when warping(high energy signature i suppose).

    Legacy: A simple special energy bar that would be used up as one stayed cloaked.


    So as you can plainly see, STO's implementation of cloaks is all wrong, since they can only be detected at close range by science ships and they can stay cloaked indefinatley.

    A timer on cloak is simply not canon and neither is a nerf called for.

    An easy fix that doesn't require any nerfs is simply to add a timer on the length of a match. If the score is 0 - 0 or a player hasn't cause any damage, then no XP or badges.

    Need to happen quick too. The cloak is not the problem, the pvp match reward system is. This would help put more hiding cloaked ship into action if this change is made. When the change is made they need to put notice of these rules in the match text. When i play on the klingon side, i jump into battle quick enough staying cloaked to wait for my team stragglers to get organized and get into position for the target.

    i agree with Dijkstra, and do the same , klingon ships more powerfull though i am not sure about that lol, even when the pvp s matched up evenly i cant count how many times ive uncloacked just to die 4 seconds later , pvp needs more balancing, and weapons need different fireing ranges, ALL weapons at range 10 is just stupid., pvp should be more strategic IMO.one last thing also, thay need to get rid of allot of the cluter in some of these maps its more of a pain than pretty.

    PVP area needs a timer on this due to the cloak botting going on and needs a much smaller outside area so they cant just fly up or down or backwards off the screen every round for bot leveling and pvp afk play. if the cloak only in pvp has a timer or a non action timer is put on the problem is solved.
    i am only talking about in pvp areas btw for gameplay leave cloak as it is.
