To boldly go - reward exploration?

I'm sure someone must have thought of this already but a quick search drew a blank. Why is there no reward for exploring new systems etc?

As a WOW refugee, one of the fun aspects as you levelled was uncovering the map and gaining XP. Or even finding there were places you hadn't been to before at higher levels.

Energy or the odd badge of exploration would seem the obvious currency.

I know much of the map is charted space but exploration is at the heart of Trek and would make a change.

Or would it be too much for players to cope with the vastness of blank space, if they can't even find Sulu?

You want more reward other than marks of exploration, which you can use to buy better equipment for your ship?

Do you want some sort of plaque or your name in a book or something? I don't get it.

They already have these, they're called Accolades. The rewards for them aren't in yet, but they're coming.

That's not quite what I mean - Accolades only pop up when you enter a new sector, and then you can see the whole map of that sector (apparently only if you are in the sector though).

What I mean is recognition of actually going to each of the systems, so there is more reason for physically covering or even revealing more of the map.

At the moment, it doesn't matter if you by-pass entire chunks of space, if you don't have missions there.
