I went to gamestop with my receipt and got the sale price difference in store credit. Go to the store with your recipt (I dont know the on-line policy) BUT YOU HAVE TO HURRY!!! It has to be less then 30 days from when you bought it.2

that's funny seeing how new games can only be refunded up to 7 days after buying it, and PC game can not be refunded if opened.
I find they (stores) smell funny to me, and usually have rather burly men standing at the counter hitting on the sales girl like she wants to date a man who has the worlds largest collection of hint books and xbox 360 imports. sigh... just move and let me pay for my silly copy of this mmo here.

Exactly. I was thinking this myself. Ive bought a lot of games at GameStop and that is their policy.
And why would they give you a refund??? You bought the game for the advertised price at the time. Just because they dropped the price after you bought it doesnt mean you get a price difference refund.

Thats not typically how things work.
Probably to cut down on people buying a second copy of the game and then returning the second copy with the first copy's receipt. It saves them a lot of hassle and the outcome is the same except that there is one less return on their store's monthly report and since the "refund" was in store credit the money stays in the family instead of going back in the customer's pocket from which they might go spend it at Walmart or Best Buy.

that is the thing, game stop does not take refunds on opened PC games, they don't even care if it was broken. ( from personal experience. ) it is to cut back on pirates YAR
As in, they only give you back the money you would've saved anyway had you bought the game at a later date than when you did. You still keep the game.
Most companies offer such a thing for up to 30 days. Learn to corporate america boys
all prices are subject to change until final product is released. since you pre ordered your copy of said game, the difference in price is the pre order charge.
littlerally what gamestop's help line told me when i asked about it yesterday, i was like wtf are you talking about pre order charge. that s the whole reason i payed 60$ then 80$ to not play in beta? because you "forgot" to send me my beta code/headstart code. and didnt recieve my boxed collectors edtion until 20 mins ago?
i was refunded for both of my STO purchases through game stop.
I am seeking the difference paid from both Steam and Amazon. Heck, it amounts to $30 that if I get it back, I can
apply that towards Mass Effect 2 and pay a little less for it. Yea, I know it isn't really paying less....but you get the idea.

This is going to be a special exception to their policies because they slashed the price almost immediatly after initially selling the game. Similar to when the newest iPhone came out (and I have inside info on this) AT&T learned about it, literally, about 6 hours before the general public did. So special exceptions were made to AT&T's return, exchange, and upgrade policies for iPhones so that people who had bought the previous one very recently could still get the new one. (and the fact that exceptions could be made flabbergasted myself and many of my co-workers, selling iPhones is something that AT&T workers can and have been fired for making exceptions about)

That I don't think is going to happen. Gamestop is not going to refund money you never paid them, and Steam and Amazon are basically going to tell you they're not responsible for the pricing of another company.
no they are not responsible for pricing, what they are responsible for is selling said product. they did in fact refund my money for both, not because of the pricing but because of my pre order issue, and the fact that the idiot on the phone apperently didnt enter my name when i gave it too him, otherwise he would have known better than to say it was a pre order charge. that ladies is why i got my money back
Maybe others have better luck than I but I called Gamestop and was quickly shot down.
I was told they do not give any refund for price changes and that they are not responsible for the change - Cryptic and Atari set the price.
I was told my only option was to return the game for a refund (unopened) and purchase a new copy at the new price. Unfortunately, that isn't an option because obviously the game is opened
The very quick price change does irk me quite a lot.
I plan to call Cryptic tomorrow when they open to ask about this but I don't honestly expect anything to happen from Cryptic or Gamestop.
Gamestop will probably stick to their guns and why should Cryptic refund me or provide me with other compensation when they didn't physically receive my $80?
This would be like if Cryptic announced on February 1st that the lifetime subscriptions would actually be $100 and come with the bonuses as well. How would lifetimers feel?
