Okay so Im trying to buy Quantum Torpedo Launcher Mk V or VI... and the prices are between 50k - 300k. Are these reasonable prices for the item (cause its high in demand) or is it just some sellers trying to inflate the market again.
Yeah demand for those is always high, so you're a lot better off with a common one as you can resell it when you don't need it anymore, whereas you can't do it with bind on equip stuff. The accuracy/crit chance/crit damage extras mean only a very little difference IMO, and are certainly not worth their price.
Another way to acquire them is through exploration missions. They reward various levels of exploration badges (1 through 5) that you can then spend at Sol, up the ramp at the shipyard. You should therefore accept only the ones at your level. There are half a dozen Starfleet merchants up there that sell gear all the way up to Mark X if you've got the badges. Finishing one explore mission is enough to buy one weapon or console, while finishing two should be enough to get three items. Ship equipment costs significantly more, but usually loot drops and mission rewards will keep you stocked on those. It's not a bad idea to spend a level or two kitting out the new ship you'll be using for a few days on rare kit each time you rank up. Often, especially with cruiser or science captains, earning or buying what you want or need is the only way you'll get properly kitted out in a game where mission rewards and the typically escort-focused enemy loot drops are concerned.
It's true the green kit bonus' aren't worth paying big bucks for...but half an hours work versus your first born is another matter entirely. At that point the critical chance stuff is icing on the cake.

Yea if you buy common ones though its a good investment. As long as you dont pay more than 90k for them.
Because after you are done using them, you can sell them for the same price and get your money back!
The good news is, Quantum torps V I I I arent that much more expensive so it all works out in the end.
If your desperate for a torp (or any wep really) 3 exploration missions or PvP matches will generally let you get any wep you want.
It will be a good one as well. Even number.
Not sure how the PvP queues are for Feds in lower tiers now, but they are pretty awful at admiral level, so exploration is usually much faster. Set aside maybe an hour for explorations and your guaranteed a good wep of your choice.

You can. You sell the cannons on the exchange for a nice profit and then you buy what you need with the money you made.
