What is the Arc Client?
Install Arc

Launcher crashes after install

Ok, this is frustrating. 6 install attempts all with the same result. Installation seems fine (if slow), then you finish, launch program and it crashes immediately. I have the collectors edition retail DVD which accounts for 5 attempts, and I even tried downloading the open beta client from fileplanet (6th attempt). I make sure to completely uninstall (with add/remove programs) between each one. I have checked and updated drivers, IE settings, disabled virus and spyware scanners, ran Nettest (everything was fine there) and even copied out the error log. WHAT AM I DOING WRONG HERE?

    Do you have the following?

Ahh, OLE failures. These come from another program on your system hooking into our application startup and disrupting it (initializing OLE/COM before we do and doing it wrong). A known offender is the Nvidia Application Firewall (comes with the chipset drivers, not the GFX stuffs), but it could be almost anything. You need to find and disable/uninstall the offending program >_<

Another app that was causing me grief was widecap. I had to completely uninstall it.
