Making a couple of changes to my game play. And yes there are quite a number of changes that need to made by Cryptic. and I hope they finally get to them.
"They are unable to respond or they are unwilling to respond."
This is what I'm doing.
1. I will throw away all personal shields and one of my weapons. I don't remember personal shields in any Star Trek stories.
Except for my armor that I hide, something I think everyone needs to do, (The armor is hideous. Rt click on your armor and choose to hide it. For all our sakes). I will fight naked.
"The line must be drawn here! This far, no further!"
Crits and disintegrations will become a must for survival as well as martial arts and I will have to re-talent my BrOs. But it will make encounters more tense and intense and lot less lather rinse...
"Perhaps today IS a good day to die."
2. I will be locking my power scheme to evenly distributed power on my ship. The huge stack of batteries with the excruciatingly long CDs will become more useful in space combat, quick kills more necessary and less space-bar mashing.
Somewhere in an alternate universe, a distant galaxy and the future's past, Captain Nero can be heard screaming frantically at the top of his lungs. What's that you say Nero?
"You got it."
I just wish we could move straight up and down without having to point the nose of the ship in that direction the same way we can move in reverse and I wouldn't mind the same speed.
"His pattern indicates a two dimensional thinking."
3. Turn the Bloom quality all the way down. That vomit inducing glow to everything. Turn that sucker off in video options.
I foresee a lot of frustration and maybe heading back to lower level patrol sectors for a bit. and No PVP for awhile. But I think these changes will slow my progression down enough so that I can learn and use more combat strategy.
"What we require now is... a degree of intrepidity."
I love this game. I hope it evolves into even more awesomeness. I will now have to go and purchase the boxed sets of all the different series (yes... including voyager) Right now I run my four favorite trek films, the audio-books or soundtracks on my other machine as I play. It's only been a week but I'm geeking out something awful.
