Were all aware some don't like it and some love it.
The facts are it's not going anywhere, it's not going down the gutter as the star trek fan base alone will hold the game up and many are quite aware that there is some unfinished content. There is not denying that.
However, for the trekkers the game is alot of fun. And if you are a trekker the quests get you more involved if you've been a follower for a decade or more (great my age shows through) and I'm getting fat like Jim Kirk and losing my good looks.
The point is just because you think it sucks does not make it so as that's an opinion. Likewise others are going to disagree. The entire point is try to be constructive on suggestions this game is still at birth like how most mmo's have started. No one is holding a gun to your head making you stay so just go. Albeit, no one wants aynone to leave really the game wont be as fun without all of us playing together. Plus, it's going to be alot more powerful if trekkers and mmo'ers alike screamed at the "CREATOR" (if your a trekkie you got that) together. SO let's have fun play together, make constructive criticism and no more blah blah blah.....
This line fits the show:
Spock: Don't grieve, Admiral. It is logical. The needs of the many outweigh...
Kirk: ...the needs of the few...
Spock: ...Or the one. I never took the Kobayashi Maru test until now. What do you think of my solution?
So that's why it's been out for less than a month and D2D, Steam, etc are already dropping the price by $10.00? I wonder how long before it hits PotBS $9.99 price tag.
No, sorry, it's not. It's not doing fine at all. In fact this is one of the quickest exoduses of population a game has seen since the release of SWG. It's even beating out AoC's debacle, and that's saying something.

Really? I saw more people in Sirius today than I ever have... were they all bots then? Cause I SWEAR they sounded like live people

That would be nice, you can purchase the game and add the code to get your month sub for 9.99 as opposed to 15.00 It worked when Tabula Rasa was going down the drain. I added a TON of codes before they closed so I could get the refund of 15.00 per month . Made a nice profit.

Actually I love Star Trek, that is part of why STO is rubbing me the wrong way.
Spock: "Captain, we have a ship on the sensors. Shall I hail them?"
Kirk: "Fly in circles and fire everything we have. I will be in my ready room because I have no business being on the bridge."
Don't remember that episode? I don't either.
Of course it also doesn't help that I played the game and beat it in a shorter period of time than I did Mass Effect 2. That shows that the game held my interest but only as a space combat sim (and I love my space combat sims), not as a Star Trek game.
Were all aware some don't like it and some love it.

<snip>
After reading the post, this phrase is what worries me. If the fan base alone will hold the game up, the implication is that the Star Trek fans will play regardless (this is what I'm assuming, correct me if I'm wrong). If they're going to play regardless then why would Cryptic put any more time/effort into correcting the flaws?
The point is just because you think it sucks does not make it so as that's an opinion.
Your right. However, just because YOU think its doing "fine"(see thread title) does not make it so either, as thats ALSO an opinion. The only thing that determines how well the game is doing is $$$, and thats something that we, the players, will never know the details of.
lol if I listened to you guys, the servers would be getting shut off tomorrow cause there are no players left
Guess I missed a memo
Considering that the "positive" threads about the game consist of bashing people that don't like the game, it feels like it is going down hill to me.
How many threads do you see created where people just extol the virtues of the game? I would imagine 1-5 a day are created with the intent of sparking conversation but by and large all of the "pro" STO players spend more time attacking other people that have negative comments than they do posting about the game they love.

As Hagon said in his response - No, The game is not fine.
I am an Star Trek fan and even myself I can't see how much longer I will hold interest in this game.
There is simply not enough content or finished product as well a total lack of community in this game.
Your right. However, just because YOU think its doing "fine"(see thread title) does not make it so either, as thats ALSO an opinion. The only thing that determines how well the game is doing is $$$, and thats something that we, the players, will never know the details of.

That's not correct.
Based on company quarterly reports and stock you can get that information on how they are doing.
No, sorry, it's not. It's not doing fine at all. In fact this is one of the quickest exoduses of population a game has seen since the release of SWG. It's even beating out AoC's debacle, and that's saying something.
Troll post.
Not possible to know data...simple as that.
Like I said no one is holding a gun to your head. Stop QQ'ing and just leave.

Dunno if reading the forums is a really good way to get a handle on how well a game is doing. ESPECIALLY here.
I dont get it... when did posting in the forums (of the game) that you like the game (of whose forums you are using) makes you a bad person?

It's called trolling.
It's pretty easy to attract them.. State anything positive about the game at all and then they will post.
Just ignore them and pretend they don't exist. There socially inept people as it is so set phasers to stun and laugh at them.
What I said is very simple. No one is holding a gun to there head so just leave and let the others enjoy it.
Just report them as harassment to Cryptic as spamming up the forums they'll eventually get banned.
It's ruining for all of us who are playing like and use the forums. If they don't like it again leave.
But again, just ignore the posts or just put troll=fail and if they dont go away report them.
Trust me they will get banned. Blizzard does it all the time.
Dunno if reading the forums is a really good way to get a handle on how well a game is doing. ESPECIALLY here.
No its not its full of trolls.
Most MMO forums are full of trolls. Go to Blizzards forum they exist over there too.
They eventually just get banned so just start reporting them.
As a general rule of them the forums were made for the players who pay to play.
When it comes down to someone harassing you who chose to quit over your posts to play and give your opinioin your going to win that round. Simply ignore, report and let them waste the energy.
Beleive it or not there are people who do nothing but troll all day long on forums.
A troll is someone who just likes to disagree and hijack a thread and cause trouble.
The simple fact is the forums are for the STar Trek online community.
If they don't like you have the right to report them if they harass.
Just remember most are kids and if your adult you'll lrealize just like a brat ignore them and they go away.
By the eay , the community was great during beta. This didn't all start until the launch.
Just check out the other mmo forums you'll see the same thing nothing new here...
Probably not. It's turned into trolling posts.
This was awesome pre launch. Now its just overflowing with trolls.
But then again, I'm going to play the game I paid for and enjoy what I got and when more content comes play it as it comes. Instead of listening to this TRIBBLE. Every MMO forum is a joke.
I have seen some Kool-aid drinkers in my time here, but you Sir take the cake. It is players such as you that are so blinded by the love of the game Cryptic could serve you a pile of TRIBBLE on a plate and call it a game and you would say I LOVE IT.
Actually I love Star Trek, that is part of why STO is rubbing me the wrong way.

I'm a Star Trek fan hailing back to 1966. This game has been a huge disappointment. From the original series, to the movies to the next generation, etc.. 90% of everything has taken place ON the bridge.
Here you can only go to the bridge and invite people in.
For what purpose?
A circle jerk?
Sorry, the game isn't "Fine" and no the OP doesn't speak for all Star Trek fans. Nobody does. Each person speaks for himself, fan or not and I am a long time fan of Star Trek, but absolutely am NOT a fan of this .. thing.
Comments
I just beat it already.
So now I have a bunch of single player PS3 games to tide me over until a few content patches are added.
Really? I saw more people in Sirius today than I ever have... were they all bots then? Cause I SWEAR they sounded like live people
It's Saturday.
And how could you see MORE than ever? Any instanced location only holds 50.
That would be nice, you can purchase the game and add the code to get your month sub for 9.99 as opposed to 15.00

Yup an if you open the sever list, look at how many there are up with people in them and then count. I know, its hard to do.
I am guessing the OP never played Klingon.
Guess I missed a memo

Did your IQ and reading skils just drop sharply?
I said specifically that the game has unfinished content.
Prove that you are fan and not a troll.
I dare you to try instead of QQ'ing about it.

That was easy. Or are you gonna play the "I asked first!" card now?
Nobody has to prove anything to you silly. Remember opinions are like <censored>, everyone has one.

TROLL=FAIL is all that needs to be said. You can't answer the question.
