Can a Logitech G15 keyboard be set up to continuously hit the spacebar?

Doesn't look like auto-fire is going to come about. I'm getting arthritis, or carpel tunnel in my hands from mashing the space bar.

The macro will look something like this since you apparently you bought hardware you do not know how to use.

    [Press] CTRL
    Delay 0.075
    [Press] 1
    [Release] 1
    Delay 0.075
    [Release] CTRL

YOU WILL NEED TO TWEAK THIS for what you actually need to do, RTFM.

You could set up a repeating Macro if you wanted too.

All you would have to do then is hit one of the Macro buttons to fire and again to turn it off.

Lots of people on SWG used this method to AFK mine etc..

You will have to Google the subject and find a good site to teach you how to do it.

I don't use Macros until I go full time PVP, so I have not bothered trying to set any up.

I am glad however we got full G15 screen support for STO.

Actually, the devs have stated that they are going to implement a change to the autofire system, to make it more useful past the starter ship. However, who knows when that will actually happen.

In the meantime, I know that a G13 can easily be set to macro full autofire, because I am doing it right now. I'm pretty sure that the G15 and G19 can also do this. You can also download a program called Autohotkey, which will also do it, but its a little clunkier, and more difficult to setup.

EDIT: My setup looks something like the following (assuming F11 = Fire all Beams, and F12 = Balance Shields). Note that I like to use F keys for these kinds of macros, so that you can still chat while they are running.

    F11 Down
    Delay 100
    F11 Up
    Delay 1000
    F11 Down
    Delay 100
    F11 Up
    Delay 1000
    F11 Down
    Delay 100
    F11 Up
    Delay 1000
    F11 Down
    Delay 100
    F11 Up
    Delay 1000
    F12 Down
    Delay 100
    F12 Up

Note, I'm not advocating doing this. Cryptic has been very cryptic as to whether this is ban-able. They have stated that anything that gives you an unfair advantage using macros may be a ban-able offense, however when specifically asked about the G15 & toggle (or outside programs) to set autofire or autobalance on shields they have refused to answer specifically. So - use at your own risk.

Me, I've used it, but prefer the autofire toggle I mention after this. I have this set up for shields, however generally don't run it for long because of interference with other commands. I'm old enough to have arthritis in my fingers and a little carpel tunnel going on. Without some form of auto fire I won't be playing so, if they want to ban me, fine; at least I'll know their answer.

    Logitech Toggle
First: Yes you can set up the G15 to repeat a command, however it only works on a macro for one of the side keys. Open the G15 (or G13/G19 whatever) profiler and click on the key you want to set up,
    1) select 'Assign Macro',
    2) then 'Create New Macro',
    3) name the macro
    4) Click on record macro on the right, hit the space bar,
    5) stop recording.
    6) right click on the time in the Keystroke list & lower it to 0.080. You want this as short as possible but long enough for the game to still register it (if its too long you'll have interference with other commands you try to give).
    7) Hit Ok to exit the macro creator
    8) click on the key you just set up, Select Repeat Options, Toggle.

That is it. easy. You can do this with multiple things (say you want to also have your shields auto balance) however you will find that the two macros can interfere with each other and can interfere with other commands on occasion (nothing game breaking, however you'll get the in game sound indicating something was clicked that doesn't work).

Alternative (this is a much better solution for weapons):
Go to Sol (or another sufficiently laggy system). VERY QUICKLY right click on the weapons you want to toggle as autofire (its easier if you have them right next to each other). Do Fore weapons together, and rear together. You can set up more than one weapon on autofire this way using in game functionality. So far I'm only quick enough to get 2 fore and 2 rear weapons, however some people can get 3 on each to autofire.

Which brings me to another point, the game already supports setting multiple weapons to autofire, what on earth is taking them so long to figure this out? It isn't like its a huge programming issue.

That's an exploit and will get you banned. Using a G-Series keyboard will not.

Yep it works, but even better is the "lag method" like stated. I got 5 on autofire that way, works perfect if you hit a lagspike, just have everything off and quick rightclick through the weapons you want to have on autofire, as soon as the lag ends they are all green and autofiring.

As far as i know it does not even need serverlag, so if you can think of a way to get the gamy laggy at your end just do that, right click your weapons, undo lag and done.

Might be bugusing, but on the otherhand i think its very starfleet, as its what scotty, geordy etc. were doing all day long when the captain needed em to do something impossible :)

Yes. Just no unattended play; you better be actually doing it/playing.

The devs already said we can use the bug since they're working on giving us full auto-fire but with no fixed ETA yet, since people have asked for it en masse.

    If you're getting wrist arthritis:
    1. Excercise your wrists
    2. Get a wrist pad
    3. Take a break once in a while and stay hydrated
    4. Wear gloves if your hands tend to get cold

Fix the problem at its roots! :D

OMG, how about you find someone who plays the game for you.... Complaining that you have to press the space bar.
Here is an idea. Press the 1 2 3 4 5 6 keys for you guns, so you have a something else to do
