I don't think there's this much drama surrounding Tiger Woods.

All this crying and angst over a game that's obviously geared toward the casual player is starting to get very comical. I think some of you are living in the past, when EQ and UO ruled the bandwidth. From the players I spoke with "in-game", the general feel is its pretty fun. You have a ship you can customize, you have bofs to customize, you can change your look and appearance anytime you wish. You blast Klingons and Romulans out of the stars, and there's some exploration sprinkled in, with a tad bit of lore from quests like the Guardian and Doomsday.

You have open-ended pvp, you can jump into Fleet actions and DS encounters from the start (meaning you don't have to level 20 or 30, or even cap before the action starts).

Sure, there are some issues. Its a bit grindy at times, a bit repetitive. But arguments over lack of death penalty and endless endgame raiding for next best gear are a bit lame if you ask me. You guys are living five years ago.

Look around you at what's popular now. How many millions are playing Facebook games? Mafia Wars, Cafe World, Farmville...yeah, some real depth going on there. Although the Bejeweled Blitz players will tell you how addictively and fun the game is, I'm not sure they'd be complaining so much over lack of challenge or endgame.

Granted these are two vastly different genres of games, and Facebook games are free (unless you pay into them). But what they do illustrate is what interests us. What we find fun. So, what's wrong with a game where you jump into your ship, blast apart some Klingons, run around on a planet blasting more, while wrapped in a star trek background, where you can name your own ship, control power to your subsystems, customize it with consoles and parts...I'm not sure I see the problem.

There are so many other games out there where you can raid through the same dungeon over and over, and farm for gil for weeks on end, or sit there and knit socketted sweaters that you can sell for a profit...so you have enough money to raid again. There's other games for that. This is not one of them. Why isn't that enough for you?

I think when you realize that the internet is not same as it was ten years ago, that most everything is now mainstream, and that most mainstream things are designed to be quick fixes to try and capture the fun factor in the first few minutes before your attention bounces away to something else, you might see that this game has probably hit the mark for the modern-day game player.

When was the last time you went to a Shakespearean play over a movie? When James Cameron comes out with his Avatar book, do you think it will be vastly more popular than the movie? If not, why? Tastes change. They evolve. As things become more visually pleasing, they need less of our imagination to become stimulating. I'm not saying that's a bad thing, but it is how we are evolving.

When a love ballad from Barry Manilow outsells a deep and thought-provoking song from GaGa, I may reconsider my point. But for now, I think a casual mmo set in the popular background of Star Trek can pretty much stand on its own without the need for so much "depth" that raiding and crafting adds. Let's not confuse this game for what it is. A fun romp through the star trek universe, imo.

There is already way too much topics like that and you said nothing new.

Next time please do some research and post in an already existing topic.

Its funny you mention Lady GaGa and thought provoking music. I've come to the conclusion that her Pokerface song is, in fact, some kind of brilliant troll all things considered.

Do you say the same things to those who continually complain about what the game lacks? Doubtful.

I did my research. The problem is you and many others cannot grasp the point. So I felt the need to lay it out in a different way. Thanks for your response :)

    Well, that's my fault indeed.

I forgot the first and most important rule of the net, don't feed the troll.

    My mistake, won't happen again.
