Just wondering how many of the OTHER MMO's out there pay people to come onto these forums and say how much they hate this game because they have noticed a sharp downturn of their player base After February 2nd?
Can't really understand why anyone would quit a game and come into the forums after the 2nd week of play and say "I Quit".
Just leads me to believe that there may be other forces at work here.
Game works fine for me.
Not perfect mind you, but after 2 weeks, no REAL problems that can't be solved with time.

After 2 Weeks none of the major problems have been solved and still nothing for klingon content.
As much as I'd like to write that off as the case, it's too much of a conspiracy theory to really hold true. I suppose that may be the case in certain instances, but the majority of the ragers I'm betting are just frustrated gamers that feel the game didn't live up to what THEY expected it to be.
That's not an excuse, by ANY means, for their behavior on the forums, and their rude, disrespectful posts and general insults of anyone saying anything positive of the game.. But paid shills? Probably not.
Some are probably just trolls looking to rile people up, I'm betting some of those haven't even set foot in the game, much less experienced 1/4th of what STO has to offer. They simply read the reviews posted by the disgruntled players, build from that, and away they go.
That being said, the "fans" of the game, that blast "Go away!" to anyone posting a good-bye thread (and I'm talking a respectful "This game isn't what I thought it was, I'm cancelling to give it some time to develop, and may try back later") are just as harmful as the trolls themselves. Some of those may even be said trolls, simply trying to stir people up by attacking from the opposite direction, as a false "hardcore fan" angle.
Ed.- Wow, I think I just got "senior member" with that post... If that's how they count that. Can anyone elnlighten me?
There is a pinch of truth in this. Same applies to some of the reviews out there, but it's the minority.
Most of the rants are from genuine players who are just cheesed off.

paid shills do exist, but i doubt there's many of them about.
i do think a fair bit of the obvious troll posts are being made by people who are more interested in messing with people on the forums than the game, regardless of the consequences to the game, and i do think there are places who organise that kind of behaviour too.
check someone's post history, if you go back far enough you can see those who are fans who are unhappy with the game vs those who've only ever behaved in a negative manner.. thats the easiest way to tell

There are no mysterious forces at work here, the game just sucks
It's good to see posts like these. Thank you. I like the game too but I would like to see/make improvements too. It is so harsh on me to read negative posts that are not construcive. But I read through them anyway because I look for the constructive negative posts that help me find things I can do to make the game better. Anyway thank you again.
Since I am here I thought I would mention that I saw an email a couple days ago of a list someone internally made of all the improvements people on the forums most want. These things are on our minds.

"Sharp downturn?" Seriously? I've been playing EQ2 lately, since I got bored of the constant "kill 5 enemy squadrons" missions and I actually see a lot more new people entering that game.
If this game even caused a "sharp downturn" in any game's player base, it was only temporary.
Besides all of that, the idea of serious game companies paying people to flame other games is about as realistic as Cryptic paying you to post good things about their game.

STO is still in its early phase, it still has that new game feel and smell. During this time, most MMO subscriptions are pretty much revolving doors. Players will come and players will go while some players will stick it out.
The loud complainers and whiners, we'd wish they were plants from other games, but the truth of the matter is they are real people with real opinions who happen to be the bi-product of this generation. They want instant gratification and they don't understand or don't care how much time and work goes into game design and programming. Their "I Quit" posts are the desperate attention seeking attempts of immature people.

That depends. Are all the people who post "I Love this game no matter WHAT!!! <giggle>" paid employees of Cryptic?
It certainly seems that way at times with they blatantly ignore everything.

To kill '5 more wolves' just to collect '10 more wolf paws', i don't see how it is any improvement over 'kill 5 enemy squadrons'?

In all honesty, I haven't seen very many posts of people claiming this to be a flawless game. If I had, I'd be more likely to chalk them up as the trolls that I mentioned just trying to get a rise out of people disgruntled with the game, and attempting to sow the seeds of forum unrest by posing as a... Heaven help me for uttering this, but... A... "fanboi"... *gag*

I hadn't played mmos in over a year. I'm kind of sad that playing this game factored into the decision to go and reactivate my WoW account...
Thanks. If it is 100, I've posted way more than I thought I had.
Then again, it may have been 500 posts. best thing to do is check the search feature and type in Senior Post Count and you should see some info. Good luck
you expect them to get klingon PvE done in two weeks? wow...
also, how's the server been for you the last few days? rubberbanding? lag? disconnecting often? wasnt that THE major issue for most people?
I expected to have Klingon content since the game was LAUNCHED. They promised a full functional faction, just a bit different. But we got nothing more than a mini-faction limited to 2 sectors, that have nothing but PVP repeatable quests. No fleet actions, no patrol missions, no exploration, no crafting, no defense missions, nothing... How is that a faction? You dare call that a faction?
The game undelivered. I'm not quiting, I'm going to give it a couple of months, but the current state is not looking very good. The people that are complaining and quitting have some very good grounds to do so.
Oh, and by the way, ValkyrVexx... What is that in your avatar? I swear that ship looks SO familiar, but for the life of me I can't place it. I was tempted to say that it was the ship from that old old OLD Nickelodeon movie "UFO Kidnapped"... You know, the one that had stars from "You Can't Do That On TV" in it... But I don't think that's right.

It's the Brid of Prey from "The Journey Home" when they decloak above the whaling ship and scare the TRIBBLE outta some whalers.
Well, seriously, it seems you are more interested in seeing the vastness of ground gameplay than in space.
I really wanted a better space option than Eve. Played it and hated it.
It's possible. As unappealing as some people found the ground combat for a long time I did find it preferable to the space combat. I think what bugged me most about the space combat was the inability to maneuver quickly.
A more fleshed out ground experience in STO would be great It would be nice if you had zone quests and those zones could be located on different planets and maybe some planets could have several developed zones with cites and civilizations... anything really...

Agreed, planetary exploration is one thing that needs to be fleshed out in this game. I hope, though, that when they have a bit of time to work on it, and start adding in new things, you'll come back and give it another chance?

I may! I would both love it if they did something like that!
I would be neat also if the Boffs could be playable... for instance if you could swap into controlling them as you do your captain and your captain would behave as an NPC or Boff... though I'm not sure what the point of this could be... It seems a lot to ask but it could be interesting. Maybe some quests could require an engineers skills... etc...

Here we have a good example of my second type of "STO forum denizen"... The troll.
Thanks for your constructive post!
