Can you please provide us the option to remove the shield indicator (blue circle around the ships) from the screen. I would love to have the ability to see my ship and other ships on a clean view as we do when the ships are not in RED ALERT.
We can still see the shield indicator on the top of the screen when we have a ship targeted, and we can always see our own shield status on the bottom of the screen.
why spam a topic in multiple forums when a thread on the issue already generated a dev response
that said they are unable to do that atm with the way things are coded.
perhaps at a later date once they learn how to code it may be possible.

No Spam here JR, did not find the topic prior when I made my search, but thanks for the info.
JR...do you happen to have a link to that posting?
According to the devs, the "blue circle" shield indicator is an effect that appears automatically when you're in battle, it isn't an actual UI element. As such, its not coded to be able to be just "turned off" and therefore (remember that this is in the devs own words), its not easy to make optional.
Why they didn't envisage it as a customisable UI element is beyond me. Common sense would have suggested that it lends itself to being one. However, that's beside the point.

I can somewhat understand this point, but how is it they are able to elimate the floating number from screen in the options menu, but not the surrounding shield blue circle?

Because like I said earlier, the shield indicator graphics aren't coded as separate UI elements which can then be given various "properties" and states, for instance the ability to be disabled. Whereas the display of the numbers are. Thus right now, they are invoked as a mandatory effect of being flagged as "in battle" (just like ship explosions are a mandatory effect of your avatar "dieing")
In other words, it was poor judgement when they coded it that way, hindsight is a wonderful thing, but common sense should have told them that it should have the ability to be disabled.
However, the devs have said it would take some time to investigate and recode, time that they want to spend focused elsewhere for now.

If I can find the link, I'll post it.

A pity really.
