But I and others were treated to a GM in zone chat just before the downtime that exhibited some very unprofessional verbal behavior. I've been telling myself to 'let it go' for an hour now but it really upset me because someone's child might have been reading that. For a person to behave in such a way in a representative capacity for your company is probably not good. I'll refrain from pushing this issue any further, but wow, maybe clean it up a little?

would you like to elaborate a little? perhaps you are just overly sensitive.

I was warned on the forum just because I told to someone he was a joke (replying a post in which he was way more agressive).

    So it doesn't surprise me.

Well I mentioned it in the zone chat and it doesn't need to go any further than that. I just wanted the good people at cryptic to be aware of this and maybe roll back the chat log to have a look.

    This is General Gameplay Feedback

    In addition:
Discussing the conduct of the GM's/Devs here is a violation of the forum rules, problems with the GM's/Devs should be taken up between you and them privately
The GM's/Devs will either not see this post or not care/believe you

It sure is, there's no specific section for 'Inappropriate GM behavior', or 'Zone chats' so this falls under the umbrella of general by default pretty much.

maybe you could post a screenshot on a third party site or something similar. I always like to see how a company acts.

This is because discussing such things is prohibited on these forums

You can't hide inappropriate behavior forever, even behind your forum guidelines

Maybe so, but you have not provided any proof of your allegations and you suggested that GM's/Devs should look through hundreds of zone chats to find the innapropriate material, you broke forum rules posting here, and you're defense for this situation is "what if children where watching" hypothetical defense doesnt usually work too well, especially since there are maturity filters implemented in zone chats.
I can only tell you what I would think of this post if I was a GM/Dev and I saw it, and honestly, I wouldnt look twice.

I see nothing wrong with the OP saying what he has since it is so general that it does not reveal anything of substance beyond that something happened concerning a moderator in game. It does not even mentioned the moderators name which in effect skirts the rules without actually breaking them.

Of course that is just my 2¢, take it for what it is worth.

Well precisely, naming names isn't going to help anything. The offending party knows to whom I refer, he was there and I spoke up in the zone chat. As far as hundreds of dialog logs, no, just Sol starbase zone chat right before the downtime.

All that he was doing was basically asking the Devs to pay a bit more attention to their moderators.

My point was... its in the wrong place (you should get in touch with GM's/Devs privately about issues like these)

I found the lost dog from number 22 the other day.

    did I:
go to number 22 and say "hey I found your dog"?
    or
put up "I found a lost dog" signs around places I think hes likely to walk (assuming he goes out before it rains again)?

Im not going ot respond again I dont want to bump this thread further, (but Ill read the next few posts if you respond)

Well sence you know it is from 22 then you would probably go to 22. But let's take this scenario a little bit further.

Going along with your scenario what if you knew that 22 was a real mean person. Do you...

A: go-to 22 any ways and risk him being a butt hole towards you.

    Or

B: put signs up around places saying that you found the dog and you left him with animal control or at the pound.

The reason things like this are not allowed on the forums is becasue you can post accusations and allegations without evidence. Cryptic wont respond to these publicly, at least not typically, so people are left to believe your heresay simply by their silence.

Its more or less public slander (even if no names are used it reduces confidences in the GMs simply thru the accusation) and is unecessary unless your intent is to publicly smear Cryptic and their team. If you reallly intend simply to let them know what the issue was wouldnt that be served by a PM to one of the many devs who post here rather than a public posting for all to see with unfounded accusations ?

Just a thought. Personally I dont care either way.

The problem really is: If his conduct wasn't adequate, you must not bring it to 22 attention. You must bring it to 22's superior's attention.

More than that: usually direct contact from players to GMs isn't exactly doable (especially Since I think you're referring as a GM what really is a CSR, IE Support guy.)

Why are you letting preteens near a teen rated game?

Do you use a word censor?

Or what was the nature of your grievance?

Again, there is nothing to be gained by airing that publicly. The point is, ques ipsodes custodes?

It's easy to be high and mighty but another thing to actually describe what was said and why it was offensive.

Btw, your latin is way off, assuming you're quoting Plato. You just said: "who guardians itself?" (no verb)

Plato is commonly attributed to writing:
audio quid ueteres olim moneatis amici,
"pone seram, cohibe." sed quis custodiet ipsos—
    custodes?
cauta est et ab illis incipit uxor.

That's the original quote from Plato's The Republic.

    In English:
I hear always the admonishment of my friends:
"Bolt her in, constrain her!" But who will guard
the guardians? The wife plans ahead and begins with them!

There's also some dispute considering we have earlier versions but they're still:
Noui consilia et ueteres quaecumque monetis amici,
"pone seram, cohibes." sed quis custodiet ipsos—
    custodes
    qui nunc lasciuae furta puellae
hac mercede silent? crimen commune tacetur.

Stupid moderators on forums who will loosely label things they don't like trolling and send you infractions. Bad costumer service. Fanboys rush to defend, more news at eleven.

I'd suggest sending a private message to Stormshade, or one of the other forum moderators and ask them what direction you should approach it with. Name and shame is against the forum rules, and you'll wind up getting in trouble yourself by posting it in public. I would imagine if it's a formal complaint, they will investigate the chat logs on their end, and take appropriate action.

    I stand corrected.

Deal with this in private - send a message to a GM (they're available at the bottom of the forum page) or file a ticket - both sound like the best thing to do.

    His Latin still feels off.

    private message.
Oh and don't be surprised if the PM never gets answered, I've sent a couple of them to various people and only gotten answered a single time. I wouldn't be surprised it it doesn't even work properly in the first place, since it's tied to the STO in-game mail which likes to TRIBBLE "lol mail timed out try again" in your face. I used to use the forum PM for an quick overview and to erase all the "item has been sold at exchange" mail but not even that works now.
