Always on saturday and always in full european gametime!
WHY they took down the server on saturday? Can't they do it on monday?
Wake up, on saturday ppl dont work and they play!

And why they always plan in full playing time for europe? Always always always. Great

And u pretend me to give a 5 day buddy code?
I've regret to have bought a lifetime if this is the treatment we receive.

Full european gametime? We have 12 o'clock here in Germany. Prime european gametime begins in about 3-4 hours!

Wow EU "full playing time" is in the late morning/early afternoon? In USA evenings are peak time. I'll take note.

You can mostly expect these maint cycle everyday or couple of days for the first six months or so. This is typical of new large-scale MMO's

Actually I am at work at the moment. I hope when I come back home another 20 Admirals are playing wow again. (They cant play EVE, since the daily regular one hour downtime would give them seizures). That way they reduce my server lag when I am still enjoying STO.

One hour downtime? You could watch one Star Trek Episode or read a book.

((Obviusly you cant play eve in that time neither, since there is a one hour downtime EVERY day))

PS. Can I have your Tribbles if you quit?

They really like shooting themselves in the foot so to speak. I mean, the UK is definitely the largest player base at this point and EU is huge, most of the US folks are bailing or saying they are on the edge. I'm not necessarily suprised that EU folks are here, EVE took a nose dive right before this launched and helped them a bit.

However, the warp reactor is on overload for STO and they need a miracle worker to save it.

Hey, if it is increasing the playability on the server by giving the machine a break then im all for downtime every day - as long as it isnt excessive (3+ hours) ;)

I love this out of the blue information that has no basis in reality. NO, this is not typical at all, and every MMO in the past 10 years has had differing cycles.

You fanbois who can't see what's going on are really TRIBBLE up any chance this game has. It's like telling a patient who has a major infection "It happens to everyone once in awhile it will go away" without diagnosing and treating it.

The downtime time slot is fine, but downtime on Saturdays and Sundays is exceptionally stupid. Unless it's emergency downtime, of course.

But I bet Cryptic is banking on the Star Trek name to carry it through this sheer ridiculousness.

    For that....... FAIL.

yep.. no mmo has a higher amount of downtime in the month or so after launch, and no mmo suffers from the need to do short notice maintance outside of the schedule they'd like to keep to (for STO I believe cryptic have said their aiming for 1 maintanence a week on a thursday).
    /sarcasm

Not that that would bother you I suppose, I've noticed that once someone starts throwing the term fanboi at anyone who disagree's with them and dares support the game despite it's flaws that they're not interested in anyform of discussion

I'm guessing that something came up server side that they decided needed sorting before the servers hit their busier times later on today. It's a little irritating sure to have downtime now but rather now then later on when it's into the EU or US peak time play. Admiteddly though it still means those on an Aus schedule get hit again during peak time which seems to happen with nearly all games :S

Yep, another reply with no actual numbers to back up their claim. What is the average uptime of an MMO in the first 6 months? 99.995? 99.111? Give us some real data or it's useless.

Nah, not throwing anything such as that around. I love it when people disagree with me and have an argument they can actually back up, that's debate. Baseless fanoi-ism like this does not.

Sounds like a plan, and least its only an hour this time, we should be used to it now. So i guess its to be expected some downtime at the weekend in EU lunchtime spell.

    :)

You're wrong, most MMOs have a maintenance schedule and it's a schedule so you can plan around it. Big deal.

EDIT: you seem to be obsessed with numbers so here are two rather successful MMOs as example. EVE Online does daily maintenance around the same time (http://support.eve-online.com/Pages/KB/Article.aspx?id=25) and WoW does weekly maintenance, although it doesn't actually mean a downtime each week but if it does it often takes as much as 8 hours (http://forums.worldofwarcraft.com/thread.html?topicId=23329393412&sid=1).

List of MMOs I played at beta and launch... WoW, EQ2, Vanguard, Tabula Rasa, AoC, Fallen Earth, Champions Online, and STO. (yes I know, some of these games sucked, but I'm an MMO freak) Played more MMOs but that's all I played at Beta/launch.
STO had the least amount of downtime in my experience followed by Champions. I'm not saying STO is not flawed ... there are plenty. But they've kept up the servers in this 1st month better than any MMO I played.
    You're accusation is completely baseless.

what accusation? I was merely making a scarcastic comment (hence the /sarcasm ) because the poster I quoted seemed to think that an above "normal" (normal for the game in question once it gets out of early stage) amount of downtime for a game just out of launch wasn't a common occurance for mmo's

I made no comment about how much downtime STO has had compared to other games, I actually agree that STO's launch has been one of the better ones

Seems the accusations that some people will jump to defend the game without reading do have more basis than I thought. I'm all for defending it, I enjoy the game despite it's flaws but please, read before responding?

OMG did Vanguard suck or what....I had HUGE hope for McQuaid & company with this game. This was going to be the real EQ2.....NOT!

STO isnt having that bad a start, the game just lacks depth, content, missions and clear info on skills. No amount of maintenance will fix that.
