You dont need a supercomputer to run on max settings
I *only* have 2GB Ram, an 8800GTX, and an old dual core X2-Athlon, and I've been on max sliders since it released, plus using FSAA, no problems here.
Hmm. I have an 8800GTS, 6gb ram, and also an X2 Athlon. I can't do max settings. I can do one step down from max in space, but ground absolutely kills it at those settings, so I have to go in and do some custom settings. I definitely think it's my CPU because my 8800GTS never goes above 50% usage.
I think that's it. The laptop only goes to 1366x768, so I think that's what makes the difference here.
Oh, and it's running Win7 x64
That'll do it. I can play the game in 720 on my desktop and it runs buttery smooth. However, my desktop is using my 73" HDTV as a monitor, so playing in 720 just wouldn't cut it.:D

It is on my TV. My TV processes incoming signals from a PC differently than other input sources. When it's in 1080, it fills the screen, but if I drop the resolution down lower, it doesn't fill the screen. Dropping it to 720 actually makes the picture only about a third the total area of my screen, localized in the center. If I format the picture with the TV to fill the screen, it's actually too big, and the edges get cut off.

Sorry, didn't put /sarcasm at the end of my post. I do know about this stuff.

1 gig GeForce GTS 320M

Holy TRIBBLE I have the Qosmio X505-Q870 and I'm on max too. Damn fine line of laptops.
Mine's the 860. Plan on getting twice the ram and a 3 gig processor for it someday.

Core 2 Duo T6600
nVidia GT 220M
4G of RAM
Maxed with 2xAA
Running smoothly
So yeah, no need for a super computer in this game.
That's weird. My Desktop destroys your laptop, and I can only run it on Recommended, not Maximum, and have to run it on Low at Sol.
Hmm... no idea what's going on there but that's how it runs. Sounds weird.
Well, I'm getting Windows 7, so I'm hoping it'll run better.
Wait, what resolution are you running it at? I have it at 1920x1080, and very few laptops do, so that might have something to do with it.

AMD Athlon 64x2 Dual Core 6000+ 3.10 GHz

I can max all the sliders no problem but once I turn on AA, even as low as x2 and/or Screenspace Ambient Occlusion, my framerate just goes to S@!T.
I just don't get it. Champions Online is the exact same way, too.
My drivers are up to date.

Why not? It's not THAT big of difference.

Oh, durh. It's too late in the evening.
yes...run maxed on 8800 gtx PC
laptop is 8600 GT-SLI also maxed
I get a consistent 40 fps in most maps, 30 at worst on some ground missions, 55-60 fps on some space maps.
You have AA maxed too at x8?
Strange.. my Sapphire HD 4830 is at least as powerful as an 8800.
