Seriously? Only 1 friend invite? :)

I like this game alot and hope to be playing it for a long time....that is one of the good points.

Now for the bad....

We are only allowed 1 friend invite...and only for 5 days. I could maybe see the 5 days limit...but only 1? Please tell me someone was drunk (because I can only assume the other reason would be something far worse) when they thought that one up.
One of the best ways...and most cost efficient I would guess...would be too let people send out alot of invites (does not have to be something ridiculous...just like 5-10) to get people to try it then buy it.
I have lots of friends (and family) who would love playing this game....BUT like most people in our current economic times can't afford to pay $49.99 to basically 'try' a game to see if they will like it. Those same people would probably spend the extra money for the collectors editions, IF they were able to have people send them a free trial.
I have used my 1 free trial, of which I expect a good friend of mine to start playing regularly after he gets hooked...but now that I've used that invite, the other 5 friends/family (I'm using a low figure as an example) won't be getting an invite from me, they won't be playing this game, and thus won't be 'investing' in the games future.
I guess todays business schools are teaching "Money lost over the long haul is okay...as long as we get some money now".
I am just asking whatever decision maker, or makers, are in charge of saying how many invites we all get to please allow us to send out more invites.
Thank you for reading this humble attempt at getting something done so this game will last a long...long time AND have the money for good patches for years to come.

Humbly,

Me

I agree completely with this. I gave a code to a friend, but he's not going to be able to start till pay day. Which is this week. But still yet, that will only leave me and my friend, who have been playing since release. There's like 10-12 other people I would like to give a code to, to get them hooked and into the game.. What credit do we get for signing people up? We should get like a free month, I mean, in all honesty, its cheaper than advertising the game.. We need more codes we can give out.. I'm sure there are more of us that could get several people on, so at least we can get a fleet, with 2 of us playing, we are still one short of being able to create a fleet.. lol

Brand new game, limited referral abilities. This will improve over time, of course (10-14 day codes for as many as a handful of friends isn't too uncalled for) since a strong part of sales at this moment is more retail and less "buddy buys" (my friends play it, therefore I'll play it). Once that isn't the case, the offers will improve.

I would have to say that the "my buddy is playing it so I will play it" is a big part of this game...if most of my friends are playing one mmo, versus another, and I'm only financially able to play one mmo myself, chances are I will play what they are all playing.
Not everyone nowadays is able to just buy whatever game they want to try it out...$40-$75 might not be a big deal to alot of people, but when you factor in families with kids, bills, payments....the entertainment budget is limited. So if I'm able to send that person a trial, and they like it alot, they will manage to afford it....if they have to decide to shell out that money, just to "try it out" for 30 days and possibly hate it and never play again...guess what. That is one person that most likely will never get into STO. From my viewpoint (my opinion only), that is one less person putting money into the game.
Now...some people might be getting 10-14 days worth of trial....mine was only a 5 day that I could send out...which is not really enough for someone to try out....unless I invited a teenager who does not have a life or family and can play for 8-10 hours a day.
    Just my opinion.
