implement actuly structual damage effects...ie. naccels being blasted off. chunks of ship flying off due to trops impact. holes through the intire ship from a overloaded phaser impact. and scorch marks from beam weapons. may never be ..but one can hope.
In addition to increased graphics in the ship damage department, I would also like to see Collision Damage. When I fly directly into an asteroid I want to see the effects of that. I don't want to become embedded in the asteroid.
Perhaps they can add another level to graphics, so you can add 'intense ship damage' graphics, it would be heavier on your cpu but it would show the burning of hull, hull breachs, etc
And people could then turn it off so they dont lag.
Yeah i agree one of the things that was awesome in legacy (do I get a slap round the head for completing legacy?) and klingon academy was the damage detail,
Also well when the hull goes back up the effects just vanish off the ship would be nice to see the same sort of thing for repairs.
Ah its nice to dream could think of so many things ^^
this would be a nice adition to the game, it would add more of an in depth experiance in the game and probably would make more people happy to blow of a nacelle or part of a saucer of a ship, i myself would like to see things like this in the game and im sure it will make it alot of fun for everyone aswell as give the game more rep for having things like this.

So...if the server is lagging you want to be in a asteroid field (all planets have em) and stop rubber banding to be under 10% hull and in the middle of ****ed of enemies? Sounds wonderful!
Accurate hull damage would be awesome, I'd love to see my beams raking a scorch mark across some poor sob's hull and likewise on me when I'm the poor sob. Not keen on the asteroid collisions though, I don't drive to well.
I think some of us have been spoiled by Bridge Commander, that is the only trek game to featuer realtime damage.
Other games basicly have pre-rigged break-away parts and animations to play when a weapon hits in the proper zone, but BC actually featured true real-time damage modelling.
If you wanted you could even disable an enemy ship and surgically remove the nacelles in an exact manner.
Somehow i doubt we will get to see damage like that in STO.
Along with the ideas presented here, I would like to see a ship that is damaged actually become less efficient. When I have an enemy at 50% structural integrity it should not be able to fire back at me like it's in pristine condition. It would be much better if it began to suffer system failures, like weapons going offline, or shields totally failing.
In the same vein, something similar should happen to our ships, and then maybe we can use the engineering ability to actually fix damaged systems.

Yeah i doubt it could be as good as that but if i got hit on the certain areas of the ship say nacelles or saucer the damage could show up on that part instead of the whole ship its a little extreme.
never got round to playing bridge commander myself didn't have a pc =(
For Asteroids they could allways use PhysX... so if you crash into one it just gets kicked away properly, maybe smashed into dust, no need for damage on the Ship, that is what we have Deflectors and Shields for.
Some moving or rolling or spinning asteroids would be nice too (even if it is a pure optical thing), they allways seem so static.

yea atleast have something like this, i know it will be hard to show certian dammage patters on a ship. i remember back playing bridge commander i would disable the ships engines and then with lowering the phaser power output i would write my name on the hull before blowing it up, i realise that we cant have that sort of thing in startrek online but atleast have better dammage other than just a skin that changes with the % of structural you have left.
Comments
So far we get no actual damage from any weaponry type, just a texture change that will only change on hull %
I really, really want to see burn marks and bits blown off, hull breachs torn through the hull when were at like 10% and so on....
One can dream

Ship Damage in it's current state is pretty pathetic but i dont expect to see any changes there anytime soon.
Isn't that what's already happening at 10% hull or less? I know that my ship is venting fire and whatnot when I get to that stage.
