"With Episode Missions, every moment spent playing Star Trek Online will feel like a new Star Trek episode in which you are the star."

I dont remember The TV show or the movies being about endless combat.

Cryptic realy mislead me on the above quote.

I am having fun doing space battles and while the ground missions are not all they could be I dont hate them.

I just want to have to solve a riddle or a puzzle. I want to be forced to join with others n game to come up with awnsers to hidden mysteries not just combine firepower to "Blow stuff up real Good".

Who can honestly say that every moment spent palying this game makes you feel like your ithe star of an episode?

I think 90% of the episodes were scenes on the bridge, in sick bay, in engenieering of a few key charachters working out intelectual problems.

How many episodes of Star Trek do you remember that were a glorified version of Laser Tag or Space invaders?

The combat elements need to be here but they should be a compliment to the game. Not its core.

/rant off

I want this game to succeed I am still playing.. still having fun.. But somthing is missing and I think all of us that are fans of the Genre know what it is!

There is a reason that TWoK is one of best movies on the ST franchise.

Cryptic declared their intent to add more non-combat gameplay. Judging from their game engines in CoX and CO, I figure they have the tool-set to do it, but like any development goal, they need time to envision, design, plan and implement it, then QA it before releasing it. Have patience is all I can advise.

Is this not what a beta is for? "Time to envision, design, plan and implement" holy cow this is stuff that is supposed to be done before the product is released, beta is the testing grounds for all of this, most people don't even know there are certain levels to a beta (gold, silver ect...) and an alpha on top of that. So at what point do these companies think it is ok to continue beta testing the entire game after release? Just wait 2 months from now when they figure out why everyone quit, there will be an enormous content change in order to repair the damage done to the player base. But it will be too late.

This is indeed noble of them..
I guess my beef here is that is should have been advertised as a "Comming soon...." feature.

this forum asked for feedback and I am simply feeding back =)

Blame the industry if you must blame someone... but for the life of me, I'll never understand why anyone would expect STO to be "complete" when no MMO is ever complete, and definitely not less than a month after launch. Not to mention how difficult non-combat content is to do "right", even in single-player games, let alone for MMO's!

Actually... not so much anymore. The pressure from the industry and the gaming community means that increasingly the beta is not so much testing the game anymore as showcasing it. With tweaking done along the way, of course.

Although to be fair, the complexity of games today coupled with intense pressure to meet deadlines means that it is nearly impossible to have a (nearly) bug-free, completed product at launch. I'm happy with what I've got for now so long as I do see improvements being made.

in the OP the Quote is taken from:
    http://www.startrekonline.com/about_star_trek_online

This is not a bug issue.

This is not me complaining because my wish list is not being fulfiled by the development team.

This is feedback about my percetion of being misled. By the games marketing ploy.

I am still playing.. Pew pewing my little heart out.

I guess i am hopeing that a senior member or dev or mod will come to this post and tell me to wait until i reach a higher level of content or for end game. That is not the case.. is it?

The dev staements about the future offer me some hope that the game gets more complex (some where down the road in future updates). Its just not what i signed on for.

That is understandable. But at the same time, they had a CB and OB where you could have sampled the sugar water to see for your self if it was worth it or not.

I thought the sugar water was ok, it was still sweet and provided enough satifaction that I would take a chance. I have tasted lemonaid before and know it is not to difficult to get lemons. I am still hoping that if enough recipies for lemonaid are provided here on the forums. That we will get a great tasting lemonaid down the road.

I'll let you know from time to time if the sugar water is getting more lemon flavor. :D

You seriously cant compare this to a single player game, I got more time out of Dragons Age, Fallout 3, Half Life 2, Mass Effect etc.... the list goes on and on. If they handed this game out as a single player game they would be hung by the rafters. The ground combat and npc interaction is a complete wreck when you talk about single aspect. Its like they did not even try, all I hear anymore when I get into a combat mission is bleep bloop bleep I swear I have to put my ipod on because im tired of the only interaction in this game is enemy shields are down, your shields are down or bleep bloop bleep LMAO. I mean even the fing Murlocs in WOW had more of a personality then the npcs in this game.

Oh ya and having 4 bridge officers that don't say squat? I mean its like im on a ghost ship, give them something, anything might as well fly around in a xwing with r2d2 he had more to say then my 4 bridge officers combined LOL

I am not the one comparing STO to a single player game. It's just that when I read threads that talk about what STO should be like, the most obvious comparisons turn out to be WoW (after several years in development, naturally ;)) and single-player games.

Do I want a more interactive STO experience, of course I do. Did I expect it at launch, heck no. Why? Because I know realistically what Cryptic could accomplish in about 2/3 years of development, and to me, the expressed expectations are quite unrealistic for a game that hasn't been more than 3 years in development with the limited resources Cryptic had to work with.

Here we have another fanboi who is so delusional that he cant comprehend this game has MASSIVE flaws and right now is a sub-par star trek game and that's saying something

I still play, still have fun and have no problems waiting for the added content and imersion that others wish for. More content is always nice in an MMO, but I'm not a soley a ST fan and this game is what I expect from any newly released MMO. It's fun, I enjoy it and thats all that matters to me.

The rest will come in due time.

A fanboi, I'm not. I simply know what Cryptic is capable of, what MMO's are capable of and that with current technology, no one can do justice to the Star Trek franchise if you sum up everything that everyone expects to see in a Star Trek MMO.

Some people choose to rage against the facts, others choose to dig their feet in and stand by what has been done so that it could possibly be improved. Does the game have massive flaws, yes indeed it does. Are these flaws going to get fixed because people /ragequit? Heck no.

Save your troll-baits for someone less informed, seriously.

To be honest, I kind of always wanted to see Riker teach Westley Crusher a lesson or two, especially for wearing this shirt, but that's just me... ;)
