Star Trek... the Lonely world

Space... The final Frontier
These are the voyages of the USS Whatever,
It's mission:
To reach Admiral as quick as possible.
To solo all content.
To never chat, group or really be needed by anyone.

To call this a multiplayer game is stretching the term to the max, most multiplayer games find a way to entice players to work togather; Star Trek Online does not.

You can go many hours playing with only yourself saying anything in Chat concerning the mission you are doing with 4 other people whom you have never met and probably will never meet again.

It seems the sole purpose of the game is to kill, either Klingons, Orions, Gorn or many of the other races represented as targets.

But I guess in a world without challenge there is no reason to work with others.

One of the most important reasons why people play MMO's is to be desired;
If you make a Tank, you want to the best tank you can be, so others will want you to tank for them.
If you make a Healer, you want to bet the best you can be, so others will want to heal them.
If you do DPS then you want to maximize your damage, why? So people will want you to join them and do DPS in thier adventure.

There is no reason to do LFG in th is game, there is no reason for there to even be the feature.

At least in CO alot of people like to have a healer along, in STO there is no reason.

This makes for a lonely world, no player interaction, no communication and incentive to group.

Space is always lonely. Also interacting in game with other players is your own choice. Game doesn't force you to interact with anyone. i prefer it this way instead of forced grouping.

I think that is less an issue of the game design, but of the people. I did notice as well, that very often people do not chat at all in team chat.

However, game play is what you make of it. You can play solo and you can play in groups.

A voice chat option would be nice

Easiest fix, would be to have a set number of NPCs in missions.

Rather than "5 for every player in the team", just make it 25.

Then the first time you enter solo, you get wtfbbqpwn'd, and come back with friends next time.

    The end
