I don't really like multi-player ground...

I was thinking about it yesterday, and I realized that I don't really like multi-player ground maps. I don't mean PvP, that is an entirely different animal. I mean the ground fleet actions, and how the upcoming end game content is likely to be. I think I've figured out why I don't care for these. You don't get any of your BOffs.

Please, let me elaborate. From the tutorial, all the way through all the single player content, you have BOffs. You are encouraged to customize how they look, and what uniform they have. You set up their skills, and invest time and points in to building them in to a good team. You collect gear for them, just as you would for yourself, and some times you specialize them for particular tactics. They really become a part of your character, and an additional extension of your will. You begin to identify with not just yourself, but your crew.

Then, in multi-player ground maps, they are taken away. It feels like a huge part of your character growth is denied to you. As if much of the time and effort you spent was kind of pointless. More importantly, it feels like your character is incomplete, and that you don't get to play to your fullest extent. If this were WoW, imagine multi-player content not allowing hunters or warlocks to use their pets. The same principal would apply.

This really turns me off from multi-player ground maps. I will still play them, and I will do so with skill, but I never get as satisfying an experience from them. It would be nice if Cryptic let us take ONE BOff down with us on these maps. The whole away team would devolve in to pandemonium, but allowing one BOff wouldn't be so bad.

Anyways, just my 2 credits.
