I understand companies having special items available as a bonus (uniforms, ships, etc) when you order from certain retailers or buy certain editions of a game. But imo you went a little far with TSO. 50% of the joy of playing this game is romping around in the star trek universe. It didn't matter which version I bought from whom there was some content I was not going to receive. You need to get this stuff available in the c-store for purchase asap. I don't mind paying extra for it since it's become the norm nowadays, but I do mind not being able to have it at all. This is Star Trek for crying out loud and not being able to have the original Enterprise and all the uniforms to go with it is really annoying.
On a related note I vote for an option on whether or not to have yours and your away teams body armor show. Warcraft does this for headgear and capes. It's not uber realistic but without the option the different uniform options and customiztions become next to useless.
There is an option to hide armor and gear. You right click on the item in the screen where you equip it and the option to hide it is right there.
I agree with your sentiment though. I believe youll see the pre-order bonii available for sale after 30 days for a fee that doesnt insult those that pre-ordered.

Agreed. My wife and I wanted TOS uniforms and as I understand it they aren't available to me. The box I picked up in the store failed to mention that.
The uniforms were apart of the bonus, and a good one I think. Everyone had access to them If they so chose to buy a particular version, these incentives are all too common these days. Although it was with the digital deluxe version and I wouldn't be overly concerned if such extras were added to the C-Store as long as they didn't add preorder bonuses.
Regarding the armour, right click on the armour in the character screen and hide, you can do this for your officers as well.
This is some direct, point-blank feedback on this topic meant for Cryptic. Feel free to comment on it if you wish, just realize my goal is to let them know how I feel specifically about something I think is part of the core of their business model with the games they make:
My interest in this game and desire to spend more money on it would increase dramatically if TOS uniforms were purchasable in the C-Store.
I understand they were a nice incentive during the "buy the box" phase of the game.
I understand because of that, this might be an offer that would need a few months before it can happen.
But my view of this topic is ... if TOS uniforms were available for purchase ... I would play the game longer and purchase them.
You say you would buy TOS uniforms if they were available to buy but when they were available to be purchased (with the direct download orders) you failed to purchase them. This is somewhat perplexing. In fact the Star Trek Online Digital Deluxe Edition is still available and includes the TOS uniforms.
I guess my question is, if you are so willing to buy them why havent you?

Because I don't want the digital deluxe edition. I just want to be able to buy the uniforms from the C-Store. That clear up any perplexities?

Sounds like the OP bought the gamestop version for the Enterprise and is hesitant to spend another $60 JUST to get the TOS uniforms. He would prefer more of an ala-carte option after the fact, which is reasonable, imo.

He could have bought the digital deluxe version from Game Stop and got both the Enterprise and the TOS uniforms.
Just makes me think you dont want the uniforms as badly as you imply. /shrug
I mean, they wont really be exclusive bonuses if they allow anyone to just buy one in the C-Store.
I do want them badly enough and will buy Cryptic Points to demonstrate that desire if they ever make them available.
Which, in terms of Cryptic's point of view, is probably better for them in the long-run.
It's not about exclusivity for them. It's about their business model which, if you poke around Atari's site, you'll find quite a bit of interesting information about that model and how microtransactions play into that.
If the TOS uniforms were an available microtransaction, then I would be willing to purchase them. That's all I'm saying here to Cryptic. Give me something I want so I can pay them money for it.
Not sure why you're so against that. But that's ok. They're getting the feedback, they can do what they want with it.
Exclusive doesnt always mean totally exclusive and it wouldnt be a predecent if they decided to sell these later. There were questions from many and unsuredness about the GS DDE if it would have the Enterprise or not. I know thats the main reason I myself didnt get it because I didnt want to risk it and preferred using steam instead for my digital dist.
Not really sure if you're posting in reply to me or someone else but here's my own explanation for not buying a different version. First of all, believe it or not I had no idea the game was even coming out. I discovered online looking for something else two days after it went officially onliine. Second, there is no Gamestop where I am located. Even if there was I doubt I would have checked into it thorougly enough to discover you had to buy the game from them to get those items, I was just excited to find it and rushed out to get a copy to play. Thirdly and most importantly no matter what or why some people would have not purchased the right version and without going and buying a second game would be without the original items, which is just plain wrong if they can't pay for them later. Pretty much every review I've read mentions that the greatest strength of the game is the connection to the Star Trek universe. I play WOW fairly frequently and for some time and though it's a rich world I've never really related to it (the woprld that is). Bottom line is EVERYONE should have all Trek costumes, weapons, ships etc available to them even if it means paying for them (tho it should have been included I can live with it) so they can play the show or movie they like best.

I'm very happy to hear this; if you happen to know, would you be able to tell us if it was part of the 45-day patch?
