since the Downtime today i have a big problem.
The first time after the downtime i started the launcher, entered my password and he starts loading the patch, after a few seconds (maybe 2-3 MB was loaded) the computer freezes. No reaction to any action i tryed, so i only could use the reset button.
Since this the problem appears allready when the launcher checks the version number, immediately after entering the password. Its allways the same, the computer freezes and i only could use the reset button.
Is there anything i can do, or any solution that should be helpfull?
Add me to the list.
Windows 7 64bit
Locks up when updating.
Updates....
Running in safe mode with networking does the same thing.
Just finished a wipe/reinstall of windows 7 sadly with the same effect.
SEEMS TO BE WORKING!!
Went into OPTIONS at the top of the launcher, before logging in
Turned on safe mode and proxy in the options panel and restarted the launcher.
Is currently patching with no lock up.
yah same Error here, was playing today before downtime without any problems, and now this patch/pc freeze Error (Win 7 64bit) and still no response to ticket or forum whatsoever, thats the biggest fraud since mmo see the light of this planet ... unbelivable
Most likely something on you OS this corrupted. I would strongly recommend backup your data and format your hard drives and clean install your OS.
I know you don't want to do this but it the best way to clear your problem. There are over 300 thousand users playing STO right now who don't have a issue with the patches and are able to play this game. You are in a very small minority. This types of issues are usually OS related. Virus, Malware, spyware, poorly written programs that you may have install.
Nothing Changed on my System since i was online right before the downtime.
2 hours later, when the servers are back again, nothing works.
You don't will tell me that i destroy my OS in these 2 hours?
In these time NOTHING!! happend with my pc.
^^^ great answer from above, it all down to us. it are fault. Sux it up and get on with it.
Well i only just put window 7 on this pc nothing else running apart from the dam game. Unless you think 10 photos of my boxer dog would do it.
I do not mind putting time in to a problem like this but there a line. and to be honest am not reinstalling 7 even know i have nothing on my harddrive to worry about. The patch today change a program or setting on my pc and others. It should be down to Cryptic to look into this problem.
I also have this problem, Also Windows 7 64 bit, running perfectly up to the second the servers came down for maintanance, and now patcher gets to 80% or so done and freezes the whole PC, no cntrl alt delete, no task manager, nothing.
It crashes for me at 20/24mb every time.
Is anyone having this problem and NOT running Windows 7 64 bit?

Just start fresh.
thats a very good joke, i still was playing before the patch/downtime and now nothing is working anymore, i even reinstalled the game, twice, still same Error, starting STO, updating launcher, loggin in, check version -> PC freeze, everything else works fine as usual except STO, so its not the operating system, i got this Error since the last launcher/client patch from before today downtime.
but okay fellows with the same problem, ill do a quick windows installation on a different hdd and will check it, will post as soon as i am done with it ;=)
The problem is only somewhere in the launcher.
With the gameclient.exe in the installation folder i can start STO normaly, but i dont get connection because of the wrong game version i think.
I'm having exactly the same problem. The game was working 100% fine last night, went to bed about 3am.
Got up for work at 6am, just got home from work now at 9pm. Just tried to load the game up...the launcher starts to autopatch and then the whole computer just well and truly freezes up, and requires a reset to get working again..
It can't be anything I've put on the computer as I haven't altered the PC in any way shape or form since last night, and nobody else has touched it.
If it's any help, I'm also on Windows 7 64-bit. Dual Core Pentium 3ghz x2, 4 gigs ram...shouldn't really be any problem. I'm using the Steam version of the game.

Confirmed, the game client itself will load, however it gets a "connection to the account server timed out" error.
The version in the bottom right hand corner of mine is
Version: ST.0.20100217c.1
In the STO/Champs shared base directory directory there is also a new folder I dont remember seeing before called*
Champions Online
Local Data
Star Trek Online
Star Trek ST.0.20091228a.2*
10 hours after the downtime and still only disinterest on these problem.
In the DevTracker is see that they are active, but that we cant play is not so important than little text bugs or somehing like that.
Above all it is frustrating to see the cryptic guys posting in the game bug forum one post after the other, but the really bad problems which let us not playing, seems not to be very important.

Only tried this because it star trek and space ( no Elfs), after 15 years we needed a break.
I'll give it 2 days if nothing comes up i'll quit. Not my idea of fun sitting on a pc all night trying to get it to work.
