The Future's Looking Great, So Far

I don't frequent these forums as often as many people do, and I have my own thoughts and opinions on the game. To refrain from mincing words - I enjoy it. The gameplay is better than EVE's, dare I say, if only for the fact that you have less-confusing control over your ship and "characters." So far, I've enjoyed everything about this game and I sincerely hope that the folks at Cryptic implement player-suggested content and ideas - if not, then the ability for players to create their own content. There are great threads on the front page that have gotten great Developer responses that's making me think that this game could boldly go where no game has gone before.

I already canceled my subscription - but not because I'm disappointed with the game. Really. I still have at least two months worth of play time, in which I hope to experience more content than there currently is. By the end of this, I want to have a reason to keep my subscription and play on until my finances backhand me - which I have faith in Cryptic to provide to the game.

Cryptic, this is not a thread to bash you. This is a thread to congratulate you on this game. It was clear to me that there was a lot of research and love put into it - and this is coming from a non-Trekkie - and the intents of the developers were good. While the future isn't looking so bright for Champions, it's looking like Cryptic is devoting all of its resources here to ST:O, and it shows. (This may not be the case, but it looks like it judging from what's happening to Champions)

I hope to see more content soon - so that I can have a reason to stay in this game longer than just three months.

You'll have your wish! We have end game content coming next week, Klingon content in less than 45 days, and it can only go upward from there, if the recent change on the instance changing fix we got today and the coming autofire fix is any indication of how Cryptic intends to listen to its customers,

All in all, a very polite post, and fair way to handle this game's beginning.

    I applaud you, dear sir.

No its not better than EvE-Online... Its Different and less technical. Which is refreshing in a space based game areana where EvE Ruled. But that aspect will only last that long untill the novelty is gone.

I feel EvE got it right thats why they are still arround and growing. I look forward to there next expansion wich is FREE... and include the Walking in stations and Planetary managment link to Dusk.

So its only a different space combat michanic .... not Better!

    ..Look it's a Kling On ....

I honestly have to disagree. The combat mechanics in EVE required you to know what a Weapon's fall-off point in distance was, the exact distance each weapon can fire at maximum range, and movement was only constricted to the mouse and the UI windows. ST:O, essentially, follows the "true" Modern MMO formula with using the WASD control format. ST:O's combat system is more, or less, a simpler version that's easier to understand and master.
