I think it was WAY too easy for me to get a star cruiser (or any t5 ship). It should be very hard to obtain...they are flagships of the federation. All I had to do was hit Captain 11, spend all my points, and *ring ring* someone calls you to tell you to pick up your new, state of the art star cruiser (or any t5 ship).
There should be a very long and hard process to get the best available ship in the game. And for people who say "but I dont want to endlessly grind for that stuff" It doesn't have to be a grind. Possibilities for getting a t5 ship could be doing a very hard quest where a full team is needed, or gathering resources to build your ship from either fleet actions, random bosses in deep space encounters, or purchase the parts for an insane amount of money that people from my fleet had to pitch in to buy.
From the past MMO's that I've played, I've learned that I'm satisfied when i KNOW that i have the best equipent/gear in the game, and I'm am one of the few people who have it because you have to go through a long, hard process to obtain it. I can't get that same satisfaction in this game because of how easy it is to be the best (equipment-wise, not skill). It should be very rare and special to have a t5 ship. All of the sudden, I dont feel so cool when I see many other people flying around with my same ship.
I understand that there is not much you can do about tier 5 now that it has already been released and a lot of people have tier 5 ships, but I hope what I've said will help even the slightest bit with Tier 6. I don't want to be in a tier 6 ship 3 days after they come out. I want it to be a challenge to get, and fail many times before I actually get it.
They made this game for casuals, many want everything and now! So no luck here. I agree that even getting to Admiral should be more like achievement than normal leveling.
It is way to easy funny part is there giving a 5 day buddy pass, wooo your buddies can go from ensign to admiral in 5 days ! and dont need to buy the game! lol
The only thing bothering me is that the higher your rank, the faster you seem to level. Lt Cmdr to Cmdr was a pain, but Cmdr to Captain was like, no time at all.
The gear grind is still going to be there, the guy next to you might have a tier five ship but with the equipment that you got off the borg queen on your last run through that episode will set you miles apart in power. Having a tier 5 in STO is more like getting to 80 in WoW, everyone does it but it doesn't make everyone equal by a long shot.

Exactly this, I also think that leveling speed is accelerating. Rewards are like 4 times bigger at Captain compared to LtC while exp needed is only twice higher or so.
