Romulan Faction

I don't want to just assume, so I'd like to ask. Will we PLEASE be able to choose from either Romulan or Reman race choices? I figure that would be the obvious choice, but I just want to let Cryptic know in case it wasn't. PLEASE!!! XD

Well, it makes sense, though it seems that (at times) in the game, the Remans aren't neccesarily on the side of the Romulans. If the Romulan faction became playable, they MIGHT have the Hirogen as selectable, considering they have a near-formal alliance in the game.

I figure Romulan/Reman/Hirogen play in 5-6 months. You know cryptic is going to hurry up and get that expansion ready to sell.

I would hope we get an extra character slot or two when new factions go live. :D

Don't all their ships cloak, even balttle ships? People cry now over cloaking this would make the crying happen a lot more.

I'm almost certain a dev said that when a new faction(s) are added, we'll get an extra slot for each.

Romulan faction for the win! This would be an excellent expansion to the game, one I wholly support. A mixture of pvp/pve content like the Klingon faction would be fun I think.

Yeah, I know of the Reman/Romulan issue, but I don't wanna mention anything and spoil anything for anyone. Hirogen also make sense, but I would much rather plat a Reman than a Romulan..., perhaps a Hirogen even. If neither of those are in the faction, I won't bother with the Romulans.

During Beta we ran multiple surveys on which playable factions should be tackled next, and the front runners were Romulan, Cardassian, and Ferengi. Keep in mind that factions with plenty of ship options make for interesting gameplay.

It is pretty clear though that the Klingon faction will be receiving attention before we address any other playable faction.

Understood. And rightfully so. I just hope that (and again, I'm not doubting you guys) when the other factions come out, they have a fair amount of choices like the Klingons. I know we can't expect Federation amount of choices, but choices. Or... make it worth the few choices. =D

Remans look hella ugly. though if you wanna play a vampire in STO.... Remans would kinda fit the bill, they do look a lot like some versions of vampires and are really sensitive to light and can control people.

Romulan will be an awesome addition eventually. Probably released with their first full expansion for another $25 or so.

Well, before starting the Romulans faction what about finishing the Klingon one first huh ?

Cause for now there is only one real faction playable in this game.

    I remember those surveys :)

every word of this makes me happy... firstly the more love for Klingons as lets face it without PVE they are nothing more than a momentary interest. secondly for the joy of knowing Romulans and Ferengi (2 of my favourites) are at the top of the future playability list. And finally, well because you told us :)

Personally I am looking greatly forward to the opportunity to play a Romulan, but I want to see the Klingon faction fleshed out first. I'm waiting for the Klingon content patch to roll my Klingon. Looking forward to Cardassian too, new races like this will keep me playing for years, I just hope they get fleshed out with PvP and story like the Federation is, even if not as deep, nothing too shallow.

I'd like to see it be like playing the game for the first time... a second time. Hehe :D

Fudge up a PvP oriented race? How do you people keep spitting out the same inane accusation that Klingons weren't finished, when they were designed as solely a PvP race, then after all the whining that they weren't done, Cryptic gave in and is now doing PvP to give the fans what they want. And I would assume Romulans and Cardassians ARE going to be fairly soon ish as the factions page on the website has both of them on there, just not clickable.

Next time you release a game, maybe you should add a year or two to content creation, like every other big developer in the world, instead of being greedy ********?

Edit: Not everyone enjoy paying full retail price + monthly sub while you develop the game.

thats assuming they could have done that. one of the stipulations of the contract for STO was to have it out in 2 years because of what perpetual did and never got passed the CONCEPT phase in 4 years of development time and all that money wasted on it.

The Caitians are a fascinating, fun species. And one that is quite visually striking as well! A personal favorite of mine.

That being said, Caitians will not be in for launch. And while this is not any sort of announcement, Caitians are on the short list of species to introduce in the future. I want to be sure that when we introduce them into STO, we do it the right way so everyone is pleased.

    ....may be sold....

but just think of the possibilities claw attacks and extra senses and somersaulting :) like the matrix with lasers ;) i haven't actually played yet still downloading demo/beta so I'm hoping the actiony bits are actually actiony unlike most online roleplaying games which are just too clicky/"power" centric rather than actual fluid movement and action

I think they should play like Bloodrayne if anyone's played that game where you can jump around on everything, swing up bars, climb pipes, walk wires etc
