Star Trek on-line game should be for Trek fans only.

After playing Star trek online since it's release here in Australia on Feb 11, I am now of the firm belief that this game should be for Trek fans only, why? Because some people that I have interacted with within the game don't understand the concepts of the Federation, it's ethics and morals etc.
A lot do not even know the stories behind the missions, they think the game should be more like that fantasy game WOW or even Call of Duty.
i am hoping that with in a year that these sorts of players will just return to the mindless immoral games that they have been playing.

This is not your Star Trek. If this game doesn't suit your morals, it might suit others. You are entitled to your opinion but you don't have to right to make people play to your style or beliefs of what Star Trek should be.

Tell me, exactly how would we determine if someone is a true Star Trek fan? Would they have to take a test before being allowed to install the game?

wouldnt it be really ironic and funny if what killed this game wasnt bugs or TRIBBLE like that but merely the people that played it?

Q#2: Who is John Luck Pickhard?
Q#3: Did Jadzia's spots go all the way down?
Q#4: Janeway: Long hair or short?
Q#5: What color is spock's blood?
    Q#6: Porthos was a...?

I'm sort of the same. I've watched most of all the series (except Enterprise, couldn't get into that one) but I've never read any of the novels or anything and am far from having an encyclopedic knowledge of the Trek universe. I'd probably fail the test, and become a very Sad Panda indeed. :(

I always wanted more war in Star Trek, now I can play it :D

I think if they revamped crafting and added some gathering for people that will make some more people happy. Also a pure trading / diplomatic and supply way for people to lvl up and avoid war would make even more happy.

It's Star Trek guys, but for the Federation it's not always going to be peaceful, there are dark times and times of war.

Do not turn away potential customers.

More money for the game is a good thing.

The problem is that some people want this to be their version of Star Trek. Nothing wrong with having choices on stun or to not stun. Just don't remove the choice to vaporize or not to vaporize.

I'd settle for this being Gene's version ... which it isn't, either.

YES! A quiz! A quiz! Everybody loves quizzes! Can we get an IQ test installed too? YES! This is so win! :D

Honestly OP, you can try and find a fleet that will work with you in that way. Some nice role players maybe? Id like to find one of those at some point myself.

But we must not forget that this is an MMO. You dont and shouldnt have to be a fan of the source material to enjoy and play the game. I have played SO many titles that I had no previous knowledge of the lore or backstory and I have really enjoyed my play experience with them.

And just think how many people this may be turning ON to Star Trek? Our numbers are growing and one day....we'll take over the world! Actually......that would probably be a good thing. Suddenly presidents wouldnt wage war but instead put that funding towards NASA.

    Hmmmmm........

Dear OP: maybe you havent noticed, but "Trek fans only" havent been able to sustain the franchise over the years. In fact, the ST franchise has been slowly dying for the past decade.

A good deal of Trek wasn't Gene's version.

    Ohhhh burn. Horrible Nagus....just horrible!

Everybody loves Trek. They just need some......incentive sometimes......which is why I myself am starting a Star Trek mafia group who takes people off the street and force them to watch hours and hours of Enterprise.

Man thats cruel. * licks finger and touches it to self* Sizzzzle

This may be rather obvious, due to the twisty manner in which my thoughts begin to write....
    I liked Enterprise.

I'd say Gene's vision is fairly well documented.

Very true. Which is why I'd settle for it. An incomplete puzzle is better than no puzzle at all.

Maybe they started out as kind, good people but the constant, needless murder of hundreds of thousands of alien races in our unstoppable ships of death that apparently only have communicators that receive (notice the enemy captains always talk to you but you don't talk back? Maybe our reputation is so well known they are trying to bluff their way out of imminent death.) have twisted them into something horrible.

Hmmm......what house are you? I try to remember.......

Torreador? No no.......broken mirror.....Nosfertu? That would fit with the broken mirror. Yea.....

Anyways, I love the avatar man. You get a win in my book. :)

EDIT: Oh I know you! I liked you already! You were using the cool green and white demonic looking gypsy clown vampire avatar with the magic wand! Anyways, the new avatar rocks as well.

I bet you wear your Star Trek uniform while you play the game too. The Federation is NOT real so there are no ethics or morals. You can't make people role play because you want to. You probably complain about the lack of shirts and then you'll complain about the lack of being able to look up the skirts from TOS. Seriously, get over yourself. Your idea of fun is not the same as others.

Hahaha. Ive seen that probably 5 or 6 times.

You can also tell most non Trek fans easily right from the start. Are they wearing their armor or their uniform? Armor? If they wear armor around all the time, not a Trek fan. :o

Though it IS a sad commentary when they have to make Sulu a remote contact for people to be able to find him when he's right behind you lol
