STO COMMUNITY,
Alright I have been looking through the old files (topics) of this community (mostly the ones in this forum) and after sometime I was amazed at how many people are such odd balls. This topic may seem like one posted before, but please do me the gratitude of reading it completely before you decide to reply and make yourself sound like a douche bag.

I'm Leaving; STO Sucks
========================
The most created topics in this forum are ones with one or all of the words listed above. My problem with these is quite simply, opinions. Now yes we have a right to our opinion, but there is a fine line between voicing my opinion and complaining; which are not the same things. When you get down to it most of these types of topics give no actual feedback; which brings me to a point that this forum is not labeled FEEDBACK so why waste your time on creating a topic that YOU KNOW is going to go down hill. Most people will never see it your way unless they are open minded about things; even your opinion. I and a few others understand you have issues with STO and things you do not like about it, but half of these topics are borderline to useless crying (no insult intended).
Perhaps people are not just sure how they should word their topic and I think this is where and why their topics go down hill. Because you sounded like you where b!t*h!ng and not truly giving respectful feedback (e.g. your opinion). I can understand you may be mad and feel STO is not what you expected, but perhaps you need to look at this from the Developers perspective instead of the players. I think if you actually put thought into your topics people would not derail your topic so badly.
EXAMPLE: I'm Leaving
Hello STO members and STO Staff I must take my leave. STO is not what I expected it to be and yes I know it just came, out and it may seem like I'm not giving it a chance, but it just doesn't feel like Star Trek to me. Some of the game play is sluggish and there's not enough ground mission in my opinion . Perhaps I'll return when STO has been out for awhile.
regards, somedude23
Wow, you see how this is actual feedback and his opinion. He did not derail (by derail I mean using words like: suck, blows, TRIBBLE, stupid, s*!t, TRIBBLE, etc). He told us why he was leaving and did it respectfully and posted actual feedback (even though it was short and to the point). When you post using words that DERAIL a topic you are no longer giving constructive criticism and instead are just posting spam, flame war topics.

Your a Troll, Go Away!!
========================
Just about every I'm Leaving topic or WEBSITE NAME reviewed STO topic has someone who claims the TOPIC STARTER is a troll. First off I wander if these people know what a TROLL (internet message board term) really means...
TROLL/TROLLER--- In Internet slang, a troll is someone who posts inflammatory, extraneous, or off-topic messages in an online community, such as an online discussion forum, chat room or blog, with the primary intent of provoking other users into an emotional response or of otherwise disrupting normal on-topic discussion.
Now yes some of these I'M LEAVING people may seem like they are trolling, but regardless of how rude they sound in there topic they are not trolling. It is you the REPLIER who is trolling. You want to get a response from them so they sound like the bad guy and STO is great and glorious. You take no thought into what or how you are going to reply and in the process make yourself sound like an 4$$. And in the process you help derail the topic and even start a flamewar...
Flaming--- (also known as bashing) is hostile and insulting interaction between Internet users. Flaming usually occurs in the social context of a discussion board, Internet Relay Chat (IRC), by e-mail or on Video-sharing websites. It is usually the result of the discussion of heated real-world issues like politics, sports, religion, and philosophy, or of issues that polarise subpopulations (for example, the perennial debating between PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 owners). Internet trolls frequently set out to incite flamewars for the sole purpose of offending or irritating other posters.
If you read a topic and your first thought is KILL, then you should not post. Plus you could be misinterpreting what they where trying to get to you and then you look like the idiot rather then the saver of the community.

Walk In My Shoes
==================
One thing that gets me is players who expect gold and get copper instead and cry about it. Saying things such as Cryptic screwed Star Trek Online up, these worthless patches are p!s*ing me off, it's not what I expected....need I go on?
I said earlier that you might want to look at it through the eyes of the people who make the game rather then a player before you are so quick to judge. First off remember that STO is a NEW MMO!! This means it will have bugs and glitches in it (which means most of the updates are going to need to be fixed before adding new content).
"But Cryptic said this?"
So, who cares how many video games promised to do something and had to change plans due to money or time issues? A lot!There is no purpose or reasoning behind you crying over something you can not control is quite pointless indeed. You need to undertaken that STO is new and Cryptic may have had to postpone ideas for a later update or patch.
==================
I Hate Star Trek Fans
==================
I also see plenty of people saying that those who defend (reply to leaving topics) STO are Star Trek fans and love it to much to complain. Really you truly feel the need to TROLL because you got mad because of someone else's opinion? I like Star Trek; I even consider myself a Trekkie, but I listen to both sides and usually (hey I'm human) ignore the children replies.

Who Do You Think You Are?
============================
Well I develop games as a hobby and have help a few small companies so I know what its like being the developer and having non-understand players cry. I am also an avid game player and writer. Two of my goals in life are to be a published author and own my own Video Game development company. So does this mean I am right in anything I say? Well it is my opinion mixed with common sense and my experience as a developer is no laughing matter.
I just hope some of you take this and use it as best you can. This is a community and though we have differences we can get along.

Being vocal about it on the forums as if your opinions are the only opinions worth knowing just makes you smell like a Drama Queen. Half the time I just think I wish I was there to pick up the toys and put them back in the pram.
I have read many, and taken them with a grain of salt. Some of them are rude, but rude is not trolling. Remember you need to see their side before you or I could truly judge them (by this I mean understand).
This is the kind of posts I'm talking about. You are describing people who have an opinion. You then reply back with a rude opinion; thus you only help in p!s!*g the topic starter off to become more abusive in their replies. I.E. name calling (drama queen) is also derailing a topic. And why complain about something you can't control? You could just ignore the posts and let them die and be hidden in the depths of the STO community.
Cryptic expected mixed reviews. It expected good judgment amongst the poor, I can't see how these vocal people who are so quick to quit with unconstructive posts are vocally going to matter as much as those who are staying. I think Cryptic likes to concentrate on the player base they have and not who they don't have. I'm pretty sure.
Topic of discussion not being a heroes so don't jump to conclusions or I'll take your LATINUM....
Even those that are just people venting, stating your opinion as if it is the ONLY worthy opinion, and that EVERYONE should believe exactly as you do or else they are 'drooling fanbois' is a childish comment, stemming from the childish belief that the poster is the center of the universe. It shows a mindset or a person who has always been pampered and taken care of by others, who has gotten everything they want and thus they believe that is how life should be. Pointing this out is not 'trollish' behavior, often, but instead an attempt to help the poster understand that his point of view is simply that, a point of view. An opinion. That others may have a differing one and that does not reflect badly on either party. If the poster actually learns this, and in turn grows up, he will realize just how meaningless throwing a temper tantrum is and perhaps in the future actually write a helpful "I QUIT' post as opposed to essentially 'throwing his toys out of the pram'. At least, that is my hope.
No as I have said being rude is not a troll. However the replies people give them cause them to reply coldly making you think they are here for simply trolling. I myself made a topic and my opinionabout STO. And two members where dumb enough to call me a troll when clearly there was nothing wrong or rude or offesive about it. Some of the people here act with out thinking. And just because you think they are trolling as I said above you must be misinterpreting what they are saying. Most topics it those who reply take the post as an insult to their beloved game.
Happens to all of us once in a while.
The worst is that people will post up some nonsense FUD:
Which then leads to a serious of replies like
To be honest, though, check again after March 2 when only paid users will be allowed in.
Can't wait.
Hey, that's great news. Roll on 2nd March
LOL, sometimes I like these random posts.
People can complain however they wish, even if it's considered to be odd, annoying, and stupid.
Your an idiot. I doubt you even read it; its "think before you post" try it sometime.
