Doing "Hide and Seek" on my new character, this is the fourth time I've done this mission since open beta, and I am trying to figure out why the graphics are so much more....awesome this time than I remembered...
I thought at first that it was just cause I *finally* get to use a pre-order Constitution class this time, and that it just looked cooler because of that ....but I don't think so... in fact I'm sure it's not that...something is noticeably (hard to describe) visually improved...and this is on the same SLI rig I did this two out three times before on, with the same maxed settings...
I recall a vague reference to graphics improvements, and noticed the need for an update for a lot of people on this last patch... I thought maybe it was a PhysX update, but textures and vibe are just looking great in these early missions to me....
Well I just fired up my brand-shiny-new Radeon 5850 and patched up, and things are...bad. Strange edges and layers not matching up. Trying different drivers, but it will be cool to see this game with all visuals maxed out. I think Cryptic did a fantastic job with the overall look of the game anyway.
Edit: So it seems that having the Catalyst suite look for updated drivers doesn't exactly update the drivers.
The game is gorgeous. My ship is gorgeous. My all-brunette bridge crew is gorgeous. Except the dude. Actually, come to think of it, he's kind of gorgeous also. But he's not in a miniskirt.

You win... I can't compete with the gorgeous dude...
I haven't noticed any improvement (I've always played in max settings) though strangely after this patch I am getting graphical lag in the exchange and on some ground missions/the mission where you're in the Hunter worm hole. Wonder what it is... my machine is a beast, shouldn't be dragging.

A Radeon 5850 can run this at full quality? There must be a massive issue with Nvidia cards then, i can barely sustain 20fps with dual 280GTX on an 8gb RAM system with a quad core 3.5ghz processor :S

Turn off frame rate supression, as that's the cause.
