Okay Im just curious ... how in the world are you people hitting cap so fast. I mean I already put in 53 hrs of gameplay and Im only Lt. Cmdr 10. You must of put in near 100 hrs of gameplay or more. How can you blame Cryptic if you decide to devote every minute of your life playing and beating STO, then blame them for not making missions fast enough.
Honestly I dont know how you do it. I have a few theories:
1. You have to be single... cause I have a wife and I have to spend some time with her.
If your playing that much... you must not have a good relationship with your wife. Cause I know my wife would be angry if I spent 15 out of 16 hours I was awake away from her.
2. You have to be unemployed... cause theres no way you can put in 100+ hrs with a job and have sleep. if you do then your probably messing up at your job and/or driving dangerously on the road due to lack of sleep. If your are doing each.. dude hit the sack... do not put your life at risk or others.
3. Your a student. You spend as much time home trying to cap. You need to put time into your school work... your grades determine your future.
You guys need to stop... and savor the game. Your rushing through the game trying to be #1 and not realizing your missing everything. The only thing on your mind is capping... then you wonder why theres no more content. Its the same thing with eating food. You eat chow too fast you wont be able to taste what your eating. This aint boot camp... enjoy eating.
Also STOP TROLLING. Theres too many topics with just complaints and how much you hate the game. We got your point... you dont need to continue trolling. If your going to post... post something of substance.
People are complaing theres not enough content in STO. Are you kidding? Let me compare STO with another game I just got. Call of Duty MW 2.
I spent 53 hrs of gameplay in STO and I spent about 6 hrs in COD MW2. I got COD MW2 for over $65 bucks. I played the game a few times... Beat Singleplayer in about 5 hrs (STORY IS HORRID), and played a few matches of multiplayer which also stunk. The games engine and graphics are old. Theres nothing of substance there. The game now sits on my desk shelf collecting dust. So for 65 bucks I got about 6 hrs of gameplay (REALLY BAD GAMEPLAY). And for $100 ($80 CE and $20 S/H) I got over 53 hrs of gameplay (SO FAR) for STO. Thats a INCREDIBLE DIFFERENCE.
SO thats why I dont listen to reviewers as much as I did. They have NO IDEA what their talking about. Now COD MW 2 multiplayer is HORRID and BROKEN. You cant even play it.
Also To the accusations that:
- The game is easy: ARE YOU KIDDING ME? Im stuck on The Crystalline Entity... trying to destroy it for the 6 th time. ALOT of the missions I die and have to restart because its difficult. PLEASE Cryptic do not make the game any more difficult... its hard enough.
- The game is incomplete: So says yous who spend every waking moment trying to cap. Im less than half way through the game and cant believe of all the things to do. Theres main missions, patrol missions, exploration missions, Using the Exchange, Working on distributing skill points, PvP, etc. Theres alot to do in STO. You should stop and look around.
- The Game is Buggy : I ran into maybe 8 bugs so far and you say thats buggy. PLEASE. I played ALOT more games that had ALOT more bugs than STO. I only crashed maybe 2 / 3 times since headstart. and 1 time was because the server was overloaded with people.
Im sure there are tons more complaints but Im not going to make this a supreme court issue.
Just enjoy the game and stop complaining. Honestly seeing post after post of complaints and blame Cryptic... is irritating.
I think many of the people who hit RA5 in 50 hours just did PvP and DSE's non stop. I have just under 51 hours and I'm at Commander-6. The only missions I've done more than once are the explore missions for badges to fill gaps in gear and a couple DSEs to kill time waiting for the explore missions to reset, and only 3 PvP missions. I also wasted quite a bit of time with the "crafting" system and wasted time flying to a starbase when my inventory was full when I still cared about credits, which I stopped doing at LtCmdr-1. I even wasted some time with the Exchange. You must have even more idle time than I did.
Even devs have said you could hit cap in 80ish hours, which is woefully low for a MMO. I'm not surprised people have done it in less as devs usually exaggerate the amount of content anyway. Sorry to rain on your "if you are ahead of me you have no life" theory.
Unfortunately there are fleet/raid/PvP type things you can do in this game which will allow you to get to the level cap in just a few days if you are willing to basically exploit/farm them without really dealing with the most of the rest of the game.
If racing to the end of a game without really "playing" it is your thing more power to you I guess. *shrugs*

If you put in 80 hours in the game so far... I dont know what you do for a living, but it seems your in front of your PC ALOT. That takea away time from your family, work, friends, and sleep.... all that will have negative consequences.
Just because the game has 80 hours of gameplay content doesnt mean that you need to finish that within 30 days... or as many people have... 7 days. Now I never expected people to complete 80 hrs of gameplay in 7 days and if you did... you need to SLOW down.
So a week after release people were waiting for more content, which Cryptic delivered. Now people are done with that... and complain theres no more... WELL OBVIOUSLY cause you spent every moment playing for a week straight.
Also people forget this is a game. This is meant to be played for fun and immersion. Dont sacrifice all that time with your wife, children, work, safety and Watching Star Trek .
I took my time to get to ra5. Heck in 1 night of playing for 2 hours i received 5 lvl's. "defend sector" missions. And you must have a handicap your not letting the rest know about if it takes days to do a lvl. Crystal enity has been made extremly more difficult due to the spams about it being so easy....so what does cryptic do....go from one extreme to the next. Lvl in this game takes no time. If u cant receive 2 to 5 lvl's per every 2 to 3 hours......well.....!
I find it funny you brought up trolling in your post when you urself are trolling. Think this is the only post like it? Seen 12 so far about "dont lvl so fast" "dont blame cryptic" "50 hours and your ra5". So mabye you take your own advice and stop "trolling"
In general....their are a lot of ppl that just HAD to get the next rank to see the ship or abilities and so on. I mean think about it, 50 hours and your done...nothing to do but 2 explore missions and 1 daily. And i am paying 15 dollars a month now to do nothing. You have to be slow to think they dont need more missions....more content......more everything. They made a game where it s beatable and done in 50 hours.
Now your right about bugs. The game is new, and there for will have a great deal of them. In 3 months if their is still a lot of bugs.....then by all means let ppl gripe.

Nope, i played about 2-4 hours each day on weekends. 1 night i played till server maintenance doing PvP round as LC but that was the longest i could stand the game.
it is more of doing the quest in order so you aren't spending your time running back and forth.
I don't get it OP. Are you mad that you aren't RA5 and hinting those that are must be exploiters, or was your intent to call RA5 players exploiters and make the point that your play style is the right one?
Some people complain about lack of endgame, some patiently will wait.

Im not mad at people for hitting RA5. Im just suggesting to people to slow down. Dont devote every waking moment to capping and playing everything in the game. Youll find out your missing alot.
Also for people to stop trolling. One example... the server went down for 5 - 10 min and there was 6 - 8 topics within 1 minute on how awful this is. Its irritating. Post something of value .

I paid good money for this game, I intend to get the most out of it. Also, I hit RA5 about a week ago, without doing any DSEs and only 1 or 2 PVP matches. I did all the missions, and read all the text.
I blame reading week and a light semester that has made it an actual vacation rather then a week of homework, although I am only RA 1, 5 isn't far behind. Alot of people where in Beta probably as well so you have to forgive them for not savoring the first 10 levels for the 3rd + times. I know I just wanted to get the hell out of my Miranda as fast as possible lol.
The point of my post though is that everyone needs to stop telling everyone else how to play and how often to play. Its getting silly, maybe some people are single? Who cares they are pixels on my screen how they live their life is none of my concern. If they are blowing off classes, well I'd HOPE that being adults or close to it they can deal with the reprocussions of that. We need to stop all this judgy nonsence, and enjoy the game how we wish to enjoy it and not worry about what everyone else is doing. What matters is your Lt Com 10 and enjoying yourself and I'm RA1 and had a blast getting there. Thats it.

Maybe you didn't read my post, but I don't have 80 hours played, and in fact have less /played than you, but I'm quite a few levels on you, and did it without farming a couple encounters over and over. People have reached Admiral in the the same amount of time we have /played and in less than the stated 80 hours even playing the game as intended. In any event, the game is seriously lacking in content. Even most fanbois don't deny that. Trying to dismiss people that have burned through the minimal amount of content this game has as no lifers is disingenuous.

That's called playing efficiently. I was in headstart, as were many people who are RA5 (and that might have something to do with it, no?), and I was in beta. These things gave me a jump on time invested, and let me play the game more efficiently by knowing what order to do the episodes in in order to get the most gain for the least amount of time invested. I have one RA5, and anticipate having a second by Monday Feb., 22 or Tuesday Feb., 23. I also have a job that I haven't missed a day of since release, and a wife who I took out for a full day on Valentine's day, as well as doing the other random couple-y things that couples do to spend time together.
It's entirely possible to play efficiently without slaving yourself to your computer.
I hit RA5 after 72 hours of play. I read all the content, did 2 PvP missions, and avoided Deep Space encounters like the plague. Gap filled with exploration missions for XP and gear.
Now, when I say I read all the content, I also mean that I'm a very slow reader. It takes me at least twice as long to read everything as it seems to for everyone else. I also played pretty much solo, so I didn't have the help of others speeding things along.
I'm married, and spend a good deal of time with my wife. I'm also a full time student and put in about 35-45 hours a week on classes and homework.
My point, for the OP and others who are saying we have no life or that we rushed it: You really need to stop attacking people and assuming you know so much more than they do. I only made RA5 today and I've been here since day 1 of the head start. We do have lives. We do have jobs. We do have other demands on our time. There is no need what so ever for the assumed superiority and insults.
Edit for additional thought: Yes, there is a need for more content, at the higher levels and elsewhere. I'm also happy to wait for it, as I'm enjoying this game. I just need to work on my Science Officer now, so that I have something to do.
I have been at Level Cap for a while now. I did no Pvp except that assigned to me by missions. I just did missions as they came along. I didn't waste time palavering in chat, I didn't repeat encounters or exploration to the point of boredom. I just did the missions as they came.
I do notice alot of players not using their time advancing their character by doing this that or the other as opposed to just keeping their eye on the ball and pressing forward. That is all good. Whatevet floats your boat.
What I find perplexing are people who enjoy one type of playstyle trying to snub others for doing what they do. Some will level fast others won't either by choice or by happenstace. Neither is wrong.
this guy has got to be trolling.....or you're just really inefficient/bad. i completed every quest within two weeks of release (and thats with all the server instability) and no i did not spend all day on the computer, there is far too little content for that.
It seriously does not take many hours to level up to the max. Most people could do it in 2 months, just playing casually. Perhaps you are not playing efficiently?

It's very easy when you don't die often and understand what the quest wants you to do. Only advantage was the 5 days head start.
ITT: OP complaining he is bad at leveling
This thread has been dead since FEBRUARY 2010 FOR CHRIST SAKE
:eek::eek::
