And how do we use these keys? Do I just give this key to my friend to redeem when she creates an account?

When I click on the unused key it goes to a key submission form (which I didn't submit to for fear of using up the key prematurely). Is there some other e-mail invitation form after I click submit? Some clearer instructions might be good.

Stop living up to your name, Cryptic.

The instructions seemed pretty clear to me-

Congratulations! A buddy key has been assigned to your account, you can see it below on your account dashboard in the "Unused Keys" block. The key has also been emailed to you so you can simply forward it to your friend or family member.

Which doesn't answer his original questions which was, "Is it 5 days or 10 days?"

I was wondering the same thing. Search is turning up nothing so far.

I agree; the main page says 10 day free trial; when I click the link; the download button says 5 day free trial; so what is the deal?

Also, can you be more specific; can I lend my friend my retail copy of game and he install it and use the buddy key?

    thanks

Weird, all I saw was my account page. And I haven't gotten any e-mail.

    Thanks for the clarification tho.

It's either 7.5 or 15 days between the two keys.

Not sure if anyone noticed or not, but it seems that both the front page and the description that links from it now consistently say "5 days."

this is exactly why I came to the forums this morning. Yesterday the game launcher banner said 10 day buddy key, today it says 5 day key. I thought to myself yesterday 10 days isnt realy long enough to convince some people. 5 Definitely isnt enough. Losing potential customers by shorting the trial period, they are.

10 would be good, but 5 is better than nothing. I've used mine already, so the ability to get more somehow would be cool.

I've only seen it say five day key. Never ten, so I have no clue as to what people are talking about in these types of threads. If people have been seeing 10, I think it's supposed to be five, anyway. You get a 5 day key from the site, and a 10 day key from CE's.

What happens with character once buddy key expires? Gets deleted? Gets transferred to paid account (if it's purchased)?

Gave buddy key to my bro just few moments ago (10:17 GMT+1 Friday Feb 19). I'll try to play WITH him (coop) and if he likes it i'll purchase another one... it would be a pity if he lost his char after 5 days... (even though it IS kinda short for evaluating)...

Any of you guys tried this already?

Does anyone know if the key is repeatable? i mean once you send it to a friend and he uses it can you get ANOTHER code to send to a different friend?

Seems kinda limiting to only have one attempt at recruiting a friend. If i have a group of people that i play an MMO with and i say 'hey come try ST:O" i want to be able to invite them all so we can make a fleet, not just one of them.

I think it is a bit short sighted of Cryptic to only allow one per account.

They create an account on the website and then activate the trial key on that account to get access to the game. if they decide they want to play the game beyond that they add a retail key to their account. It'll be the same account both before and after the retail is added so they keep their character's

At least that's assuming it's the same as any other trial out there and Q hasn't altered it because he got bored
