They really make the game look so much better than it really is. The 30 second TV spot actually shows you commanding off of the bridge which considering we had to beg Cryptic to even put a bridge in makes it ********. Shame on you Cryptic. People go out and spend 50 bucks on a game to find out it's not the product that was advertised.

I don't see any commanding "from the bridge" there in actual gameplay. there was a half-second of actual gameplay with the UI and everything, that's it. The rest is just video. Sorry, this is the norm for the video game industry. There's no shame on Cryptic's part, and there shouldn't be.
You may bash this guy for trolling, but he is correct. I have yet to see my Captain sit on the bridge and do what the one did in the commercial. But this is Cryptic, and if you look at the BBS rating you will understand why the commercial was done the way it was done. They have a habit of misleading customers with deceptive advertising in order for someone to make a purchase. I have no idea how they have not been sued for Fraud, because that is exactly what it is. But that's just me and I expect companies to live up to their words and promises, because that's what I do.
Repeat after me. Cutscenes. Every game that has a commercial develops cutscenes for the game. You won't see the same in the games. Anyone who remembers the opening for Wow knows the game was nothing like the video. So move along. A valid point does not exist in this original post.
There is only one person that can save STO......BRENDEN FRASER!!!
Put him in game, with a voice over, as an Admiral.
This game could really benefit from some good voice acting. And by voice acting I don't mean someone to just drone on and on... It needs some personality.

it does. as far as i can remember while WoW and others did have Cutscenes those never even hinted functions that werent in the game. the stuff you see in the cutscenes is the stuff you can do ingame.
as with cryptics trailer, the whole thing suggests that there is bridge controlled combat .... which isnt even remotely in the game ... i mean ffs, i cant even sit in my captains char.

You can sit in your captain's chair.
And there are custscenes in WoW that do show things you can't actually do.
...doesnt look the same to me.
HEY!!! That older looking Captain guy was SITTING in his Captains chair!!!
Whats the emote that lets me sit in the captain's chair and bang the armrest like that?
No, Im NOT surprised its misleading.
Show me where it says "Actual in game footage" on the video and you have a case. Otherwise, you are assuming.
Go ahead and READ for yourself all about Cryptic and their business practices.
Because we all know the BBB is a reliable rating agency with absolute power to control companies in their private practices. Does Cryptic even pay extortion mone-- I mean dues to the BBB?
He's trolling the forums right now, he has like 4 or 5 threads like this
Just put him on your fleet ignore and be done with him. Each time a person posts 11 I quit threads, or some such, and he ends up still flying space around Sirius, I look and find out I or someone else has put him on our global ignore.
If you keep up with fleet ignores, then you need not even read his post.

Is that not the sole reason for the BBB? The Better Business Bureau was put in to place for that reason. To help prevent theses kinds of things from happening. If everyone was allowed to run around making such false claims in order to get you to buy something, where would we all be?
Wouldn't it be easy to advertise anything if you didn't have to abide by any laws? What if Burger King advertised that for 1 day only, you buy one of their cheeseburgers they will give you 1 FREE, along with a limited edition 2010 Sport Car. So everyone rushes to get their free burger and sports car, only to find out they were totally kidding about the sports car, but you still got your free burger. I guess that's fair, since you got half of what they promised.
What bothers me about this is why the company is rated F: Company Rating F
Our opinion of what this rating means:
We strongly question the companys reliability for reasons such as that they have failed to respond to complaints, their advertising is grossly misleading, they are not in compliance with the laws licensing or registration requirements, their complaints contain especially serious allegations, or the companys industry is known for its fraudulent business practices.
Does this mean anything to you people that think Cryptic is the greatest company out there and don't need to explain their actions? I guess so many people are the sheep that just follow blindly and don't bother questioning anything. Some of us like better for ourselves and will question the ethics of a company that says one thing and does another.
lol at complaining over something pointless. it's a commercial. most of it is CGI.
oh, and ooooohhhh, the BBB, scaaaary. what, you're going to sue cryptic over a commercial that's obviously MOSTLY pre-rendered now? and i could care less what the BBB says. i haven't had ANY issues with cryptic, ever since city of heroes.
More in that I don't trust the BBB enough to rate other companies. As a result, their opinion of the company doesn't really spark any worry in my mind. This whole topic started over the obviously FMV'd TV spot, perhaps it's the fact that I've been watching these advertisements enough to pick out what is real gameplay and what is just made to "look pretty".

I know it really sucks. I bought a bunch of Axe bodywash and I STILL have yet to be mobbed by a group of hot women.

The third kind of fell off a cliff. It was pretty bad.

They have a Bulliten Board System rating?
And Gi Joe
Anyway, the devs have responded to this like 90 times now

Ahh, BBS. I miss me some of that.
If Cryptic has one, I will gladly break out my old USRobotics 14.4BPS and dial in for some Door Games.
